18:00 That exists in various forms in other states. My dad was a small business owner in Indiana, and two things he’d always donate towards were the annual “Shop with a cop” Christmas charity and the annual Fraternal Order of Police fundraiser drives. The FOoP donation always came with a small window decal for your car. Dad always had at least 3-4 of those from recent years on his truck. The one time I can remember being with him when he got pulled over for speeding, the cop did the usual check to make sure his license and plates were valid, came back over, tapped on those stickers with his pen, said “Be safe” and walked back back to his car.

I’m originally from Ashland, KY. I know that RT 23 he’s talking about WELL. It went right through the downtown of Ashland, on the northern end, before it became and as much East-Wast as it was North-South, along the Kentucky-Ohio state border. Always wild for me to hear Jim’s stories, from there up to Charleston & Beckley, WV (Ashland is part of the Kentucky-Ohio-West Virginia tri-state. I graduated from Marshall University, in Huntington, WV…and lived at home those final two years (I only attended there my final 2 of 7 years).

Grew up in WV, and lived in Huntington the last 5 years or so before joining the Army. That general area is still very familiar to me despite not having been there in 20 years. The local cops in the region could either be the best, most reasonable ones ever...or the opposite.

Jim should do a series of audio books using the Ernie Ladd voice. I actually spoke to the Big Cat once and Jim does the best impression I've heard. And just so no one thinks I'm high hatting, I did not have a conversation with the big cat. It was in the parking garage at Cobo. He was walking out to his car and I ran up and asked him for an autograph and he said "Get lost kid", got into his Town Car with 2 beautiful women and drove off. Kayfabe struck deeply that evening. When I smartened up I realized he was protecting the business and that made me love him even more. He was my favorite wrestler back then, until Roddy Piper replaced him by a whisker.

The first and last time I tried to dispute a traffic ticket the judge literally didn't let me speak a single word before determining my "sentence". I wasn't even going to dispute that I messed up, but that the officer's charge was completely wrong. He was the only one the judge had patience to hear out though.

11:20 This is still true today. AFAIK, my ex-wife is still not able to legally drive in the state of Georgia. Speeding ticket, refused to pay it, and received the suspension letter about 6 months later. And this was 2018, so it’s still done in practice at the state level.

I've always understood Mantle got one of his spikes caught in a pipe that was barely beneath the ground rather than actually tripped over one. Koufax I believe would've been toast one way or another as I'm not too sure surgery could've fixed his arm issues. One thing too I'll say about Ernie Ladd. Had he been born 30 years later, he'd have never been involved in wrestling because he would've been able to make enough money in football to not have to do wrestling on the side so in that instance, be grateful that he was born when he was or else we'd have never seen the Ernie Ladd we all know and love in the ring.
