This is such a fascinating insight into the mind of Russo. I would have found that pitch genuinely hilarious when I was a teenage boy with stunted emotional intelligence, ie a child without a fully developed brain and little understanding or experience of the world around me. For Russo to have written this around the age of 40 was truly disturbing; for him to still find it funny around age 60 is even more disturbing. He lucked into the Attitude Era and rode off it like a parasite. Any other era he would have been laughed out of the room.

This takes me back to when Prichard did an episode on Russo and after getting annoyed after going through one of Russo books where he basically takes credit for every good idea of the attitude era and said that everybody in the WWF didn’t have a clue how to write good TV and mentioning some other promotion idea he had that he kept away because he thought Vince would ruin it. And Bruce eventually gets snarky saying how he’s sure that idea was gangbusters since he kept it from Vince and Conrad gives him a hard time for it. But when you look at his track record outside of the WWF and then hear things like this we’re all his it helps put Bruce and getting exasperated in better context. It makes more sense how aggravating it must be to hear somebody constantly take credit for everything good, pass the buck on a lot of the bad, and label everybody else as being out of touch and denying that he ever had or needed a filter hearing him write about something this absurd being an idea that he had on his own. When you look at what comes out of the guy when he doesn’t have somebody around to shoot down crazy stuff obviously he succeeded when he was in an environment where he could pump out a ton of ideas and had people who could pick out the viable ones and tweak them. Because for a guy who didn’t have a filter in the WWF he sure never had the same success or quality of ideas anywhere else and the things he’s put out that were his sole creations outside of the WWF aren’t simply bad they’re generally batshit absurd to the extent it’s hard to believe a person could have pitched this to somebody sincerely and not as some idiotic prank

After hearing this and a previous clip of Russo ideas. I have no idea how Cornette didn't simply stand up, pick up his chair, and bludgeon Russo to death with it during one of the creative meetings in WWF.

It's sad as it makes loads of people copy him and hate Russo when actually Russo wrestling was so much better than modern stuff. Id happily have Russo writing TNA again now. You'd actually have characters and storylines and it would be fun and interesting. Now it's just boring. Their MVP Joe Hendry doesn't even have a storyline or feud 😂
