Jim Croce was my husband's favorite, and he introduced me to his music. We married in 1974, right when this song was super popular. It always felt like "our song" because the lyrics were so true for us. We were not teenagers, we were 23 years old then and already could see the truth to how quickly time passes and how a person can never fit everything into a lifetime, so must choose wisely. We just celebrated our 50-year anniversary, and it all rings true even more the older we get. Thank-you for reacting to this. Gail L.

I just gave a speech at my 26 year old son’s wedding and my topic was how we can’t hold onto times in our lives and how elusive it is. I said how throughout my son’s life I’ve wanted so badly to capture and stop time with him during special precious moments and not let go. I told him how the urge to hold on his wedding day is as strong as ever, but the urge to let go is more intense because I don’t want to miss all of the future moments I get to witness as he grows into a man and maybe father. I said “time is such an interesting human phenomenon”
