I have no idea what I did to deserve this but the great Jim Lee took a simple Psylocke sketch I drew and turned it into a masterpiece!! I watched the whole thing happen live and I still can't believe it. So thankful right now for the support I've received from each and every one of you guys over the years. None of this would be possible without you. I'm obviously also eternally grateful to Jim for taking the time to do this for just a regular fan like myself!! Who does that?? Make sure you tune in live at twitch.tv/jimlee so you can vote for one of your favorite characters to be drawn by Jim. Content in this video was acquired from Twitch with the permission of Jim Lee.

Thing is, it has always been this way. Some people learn better with someone teaching the material, some people learn it better through reading. I'm one that learns best when listening and watching, and repetition. Books weren't my thing, but I mustered 2 associates and a bachelors, so I did something right. I prefer watching people draw and learning that way, so you and I are in the same boat. Fuck a book, lol.

When he started fine tuning at the 30:00 mark I cracked a smile so wide it hurt. I know he pretty much fine tuned the whole pencil drawing but those "unnoticeable" marks sure made it all come alive. Pure magic.

I used to ink a fair bit (i make complete pieces now art wise so i still ink but its my own work), the difference between an okay inker and a great inker is while an okay inker will show off your pic and highlight it they wont add anything. a great inker will make your art explode and highlight all of the best parts while hiding any little inconsistencies as well as adding a dynamic : i never was great at inking had my moments including compliments form jim lee and a couple others but its so fun watching a master of their craft in action. and it is a great drawing especially for inkers to play with so well done.

If you're very passioned about drawing, and trully deeply inspired by his techniques to just think about working as a professional, then you should take time and practice! Very cool. I realize Jim didn't want to make big adjustments that would require major redraws, but both of her arms are still a bit off. The back one looks like it's punching out from her neck. Since this is not a 100% side angle, we are getting some front angles at the neck, upper chest, and breasts, it would make more sense to draw the shoulder and upper arm of the right arm receding back and down a little, and having the forearm coming out a touch lower, and further out. The front arm needs a little more neck and trap visible with the shoulder a little larger. The shoulder should also be moved down a little because it looks like the arm is connecting into it's socket too high and bit too forward from where it should connect. Everything else looks really good.
@xpeterson
@xpeterson 5 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. When you say the back shoulder should be visible and back arm brought down, I feel like you are treating the whole upper body as a rigid unit. The shoulders are raised and brought back in this pic, her shoulder blades pinching together while her chest is stretched and arched out a bit. As someone who has made “corrections” like that in the past, you quickly realize your character looses a lot of dynamic, and in this particular drawing it would probably result in her looking like she’s taking up a fighting stance as opposed to being about to deliver a blow. It’s not anatomically incorrect, it’s just more stale.
