I'd say this ode is a key to Softparade. About horse eyes whip. Looks like Jim was impressed by Nietzshe story about Torino horse. And, may be, Nietzshe was inspired by Dostoevsky cruel horse story. Moreover, i'm pretty much sure that Jim identified himself as Nietzshe in Softparade, when he begging for soft asylum. Still wondering, who is man at the door

Im convinced that Jim Actually understood Nietzsches philosofy, in contrary to alot of other bands/singers who constantly talk a out Nietzsche but just do it because he was a hot subject back then. As far as i know imo there are only two from whom im sure they read and understood him for a great deal, maybe completly 1: Jim Morrison & 2: Marilyn Manson (both read Nietzsche at a very young age, and used a lot of what Nietzsche wrote in their music) And Jim took multiple aspects and integrated it into the band, and also thanks to Ray Manzarek who understood Nietzsche 2 and therefore Jim, and what he wanted to accomplish (but failed at the end)
@user-vr4ng7hv1y8 жыл бұрын
Never talk again about Marilyn Manson. Being a Philosophy Major (I'm not a real philosospher yet), my speciality is Nietzsche. Yeh, fuck Marilyn, Being a philolohist, Nietzsche is close to Aristotle, Plato and all of antquity. Thus, Morrison is too, therefore mysticism ! yeeaaayyy beerrr mofooozzz !
@SimplyLimbo8 жыл бұрын
a The fact you said " Nietzsche is close to Plato" proofs you dont know Nietzsche at ALL ! Nietzsche is close to antiquity, no doubt about it, but ONLY the pré socratic greeks. And you SHOULD have known this because he talks about this in his first book ! And in götzerdammerung "the twillight of the idols" he even said that Plato would never have written his philosophy if it wasnt for the 'young men' of that day (he means because he was gay !) And that socrates poisened the mind of the greeks. Wanna learn Nietzsche thoroughly ? Read all his books in the CHRONOLOGICAL order he wrote them, because he often destroys his own theories when he realized he was wrong the first time...
@user-vr4ng7hv1y8 жыл бұрын
SimplyLimbo He is close to them as in he is in direct dialogue with them. His writting are very closely related to those of Greeks in that sense. It's undeniable that much of his work is influenced by Plato: he said in his admission letter to University that the Symposium was his favorite work. He might have not been in agreement with Plato on most of his thoughts, but he's clearly influenced by him. Both keep using the health and physiological metaphors. And with Aristotle, I think he agreed with quite a lot of things. Oh, and I hate when persons refer to ''pre-socratics'' they were so different from one another, it makes no sense to make them one group. Do you think he'd have agreed with Parmenide's theory on the being and non-being ? Thales' ''Earth floats on water'' ? Anaximandre's ''earth is on the center of the universe and does not move'' ? Pretty sure he disagrees with much of what they have to say.
@SimplyLimbo8 жыл бұрын
a influenced ? Afcourse ! Who doesnt start with the greeks ! (Plato was my first one as well!) But he was also influenced by Schopenhauer, Goethe, Schiller, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Wagner, Voltaire, and many many others ! But his work has nothing to do with Plato, he even calls Socrates, the source of the destruction of the greek spirit (he hold this opinion from day one to hos last book) Regarding 'Pre-socratic' im not talking about people who use the word, im talking about Nietzsche himself who makes a clear distinction between before and after socrates. Again: Read his first work, "Die Geburt der Tragödie", and for his opinion about plato, and that Plato's philosophy would never have existed if it wasnt for the young men of Athens.... götzendämmerung. And his opinion about socrates (and therefore Plato) as ressentiment philosophers is a recuring subject, (among many others) He sees them as destroying the true potential of what the greeks used to be. One of the reasons according to him, was that Socrates was buttugly, and stood for everything the greeks of that time hated. He also says a good medicin AGAINST the craziness of Plato and his time is (reading) Thucidydes. He praised Alcibiades, instead of the moral preechers of greece at that time. (Plato was in love btw with Alcibiades) Again if you really want to understand his view (since he had no system, only certain reocuring subjects (Amor Fati, The eternal return, the will to power, dionysian and appolonian, etc etc)"having a system is a lack of integrity" is what he said, read his books in chronological order, and read (only AFTER you read his main works) his note's/fragments (you can download them in german, i got the dutch translation of the fragments) And remember that his last 3 books were not published by him, but by his sister, who was an antisemite. (And even went with her husband to south America trying to build 'Nuovo Germania', which ended in a big failure. My personal favorite is also sprach zarathustra and Die Fröhliche Wissenschaft.

No, we already had Jim on this Earth. We can get someone different to entertain us though. I don't think people understand the genius of this man. You have to be naive to genius if this doesn't ring with you. Jim gave up getting a new bike for his birthday. Instead he asked if he could have nietzsche's whole collection at the age of 16.
@thedoors4m796 жыл бұрын
@Breandan Moore ...or preferring Nietzsche`s works instead of getting his first car... (as some story tells) Anyway, Jim was a passionate artist and philosopher, having discovered his passion for the fine arts, especially poetic art, already in his childhood. "I`M KIND OF HOOKED TO THE GAME OF ART AND LITERATURE." (Jim Morrison in the Jerry Hopkins interview, 1969) Also check out the book "Pfeile gegen die Sonne - Der Dichter Jim Morrison" ("Arrows at the sun - the poet Jim Morrison") by the German philosopher and literary scientist Thomas Collmer, a 1000-paged, highly demanding masterpiece about Jim`s poetry and philosophy (and much more) which still has not been translated from German into another language, unfortunately... This opus magnum on Jim`s art and philosophy - including, of course, analysis and interpretations also of his song lyrics - is supposedly unparalleled not only on the German but on the worldwide market. Make advertisement for this fucking awesome book to have it finally translated into English, at least! Greetings from Germany Michael Hontheim
