Jim Steinman - The Dream Engine (Mount Holyoake Production, May 1969)

This is where it really all began (if you don't count the score for A Man's a Man...) Witness Steinman's epic amalgamation of Brecht's Baal and 1960's counterculture in this truly unique 3 hour epic. Sadly no known recordings exist of the plays original April 1969 run at Amherst but this audio (and these images) exist from the May 1969 production from Mt. Holyoake which was greatly toned down from the Amherst play, with certain scenes and all nudity cut. I've spent a while restoring the audio making this the perfect way to listen to this unique creation! I hope you can all enjoy this, rest in peace Jimmy.

Real dumb question but I see one role is done by Stephen Collins, is that the same Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven

I'd imagine not since 7th Heaven Stephen is from Iowa But he would have been 22 when this play was done so its entirely possible 1947 was the birth year for most of the cast

WELL I did some research and yes It actually is him He went to Amherst and starred in this play Probably his earliest acting role as he didn't properly go into acting until 1974 Pretty crazy

Yes it is the very same, they went to school together. I was watching a doc about Stephen Collins and learned that they went to school together, and he even was in his next play... But he is a very very bad man, Collins... Very bad.
