I was watching another video on this song on KZbin complete with tabs that moved as the guy played. I assumed this was great. However after an hour or so I still could not get that first lick to sound right. Now I by accident saw this video and man what a good accident as this guy really teaches and explains each note and how to bend and so forth. Bending or bending and release is critical for this song. I now know I will be able to play these solos thanks to Brian as he could not be a better teacher. Being an old guy of 76 it may take me some time to get it all down but without this video I know I never could..

SRV does it as well. It makes for a great sound but unless you are rich (not me) it is a PITA to down/up tune. For spotify and itunes I use ASD (Amazing slow downer) that allows me to up or down any song a step or two.

Wonderful dissection of Jimi’s solo. Would like to hear guitar with clean tone. If u listen to isolated lead track from actual recording , there doesn’t seem to be any distortion on the strat! He just flicks between neck and bridge pick up . Oh , and on the same take he’s playing the chord fills in the verses!

I can't play this song, so it feels weird giving a correction. But, I'm pretty sure the hammer and pulloff at the end of the intro is 9-11-9, not 7-9-7. Thanks for the vid!
@zombieguitar7 жыл бұрын
Gab03 you may be right. There was a couple parts that I was unsure of. Thanks for watching though!
@owengardiner46287 жыл бұрын
Gab03 think it's a 8th-7th pull off. 7th on the g (3rd) string. 10th-12th bend 2nd string or its pre bend on 7th to 8th down to 7th, 7th on g string then 10-12 bend. It's defiantly got a g note not a g#
@LSD123.7 жыл бұрын
i agree, i thought it sounds alot better playing 9-11-9

Im having trouble with bend up, down and release (to index finger two fret higher up the neck). I can get the bend to ring up and down, but when I then remove my ringfinger to let the indexfinger ring out the note is pretty much dead.

And Yes that is A mean bend to do over and over to show. Sounds like You are using 52 string, so maybe An 11 at the high E. Yeah A mean bend especially to do over and over to teach. Sounds So Original, A Lot of Tone, sounds like A 64 ish Tube Amp. Love the Tone too. You don’t slap in A Lot of Crap effects and distortion. Amazing Sound and Can hear every note.

Do you know the chords for the acoustic part at the very end of the song? Like when the bend on the 19th fret of the high e starts? In the studio version, it doesn’t sound like the chords u put on screen.
