I mean for the record version which this cover is based on Jimi did not sing and play at the same time. In fact they recorded most of the song separately. Hendrix overdubbed the different guitar parts several times. Basically erasing the original recording. Pissed off the bass player so Hendrix overdubbed that too with himself playing the bass. Seemed like a nightmare to record this song surprised it turned out so well in the end. They had 16 tracks to mix together by the end!

@yutopia73 жыл бұрын
You gotta look at the ratio. He got 98K likes so that’s 1 dislike for every 98 people. 1% disapproval isn’t that bad! Why would anyone dislike this video? Because there’s always naysayers. Some people are too critical with bullshit like “That’s not EXACTLY like the way Jimi played it!” And then there are people who play electric guitar who’s not into these music, and then there are people who just push dislike just because they don’t want to conform with the popular opinion (ie no good reason) Anyways, I loved this video. Wonderfully played! I wish I had this guy’s talent.
@matthewpalmer40813 жыл бұрын
I personally didn't dislike the video but I think they disliked it because he is play the chords out of sequence on his acoustic and in the wrong area, if you pay attention he starts with an A minor power chord, and then switches to the G, then back to the A minor, then to the what should be an F power chord but he plays it a fret up where a B power chord is. The sequence that it's played in goes G, A minor, G, F power chord, that's how I play it on my acoustic and it sounds in line with the track, so a possible explanation for the dislikes is that he put the track over the video and muted what he played.
@matthewpalmer40813 жыл бұрын
Actually he plays the chords A minor, I'm pretty sure that's a B power chord, G, then back to the A minor Should be: G, Am, G, F power chord

Every time I hear jimi's watchtower I get emotional because, like all his music, you hear his soul speaking. Lost most of my hearing but, having come of age with jimi, I still cosmicly "hear" every nuance. Same with this posting... I have tears flowing. Awesome and absolutely mind-altering.

If you wanna sing along: There must be some kind of way outta here Said the joker to the thief There's too much confusion I can't get no relief Business men, they drink my wine Plowman dig my earth None of them along the line Nobody up at his word Hey, hey No reason to get excited The thief he kindly spoke There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke But, uh, but you and I, we've been through that And this is not our fate So let us stop talkin' falsely now The hour's getting late, hey All along the watchtower Princes kept the view While all the women came and went Barefoot servants, too Outside in the cold distance A wildcat did growl Two riders were approaching And the wind began to howl

Just watch the fingers. There is truly something inherently sacred in the way Hendrix used the pentatonics. Its just 'cosmically right'. Totally not being dramatic, playing this, feels very much like religion to me. Its just mathematically perfect.

I'm a guitar player lover,, not a player. Something about Hendrix and what you said. Now that I see so many people doing his covers on KZbin, it always impresses me that it's not so much that Hendrix was difficult to play as that his choice of notes was so brillant in a non complicated way. He's been my main man for over 50 years. KZbin has only endeared him to me more that now I can listen to him and see him play things I only imagined seeing and hearing way back in the day. And don't even talk about how interesting his life was. He packed so much into such a short time. Finally, let me say that I think Jimi had an amazing ear for music.

This is the best part of Hendrix - the composition, the choice of notes and the phrasing thereof - cosmically right, mathematic, the Platonic form, timeless. never tire of it, always scratches the itch, over and over, it soothes my soul. Hendrix WAS the electric guitar. Almost everyone else sounds like they are just fitting together stereotypical riffs like Legos.

As others have said, the original construction of this masterpiece is laid bare before your eyes, love or hate Hendricks - few are fortunate enough to have his creativity or ability even today, but Pilky27 (whoever you are) congratulations on bringing up close the "nuts and bolts" of such an iconic guitar players work of art!

This great performance does help illustrate the fantastic construction of the guitar in this song. An under-appreciated aspect of Jim's playing, due to Jim's mind blowing technique and sound, was how well put together and complex his music was. Who the heck is pilky27?

It’s so inspiring to see Jimi take a Dylan folky acoustic ballad and expend it’s musical potential to create a version which is completely original to the Dylan track. A lot of people forget it was actually a Dylan song first but it ultimately became Jimi’s song. Rest in peace to the quintessential guitar god

As much as it takes to replicate a master work like this, once you do, it really makes you appreciate the talent involved in coming up with it in the first place. That is the area beyond technical ability that can't be learned. You have it or you don't.
