Anything, but maybe a ballad would be nice, like Drifting or Angel from Cry Of Love.

Not only arguably the best Rock/Blues guitarist, but the most influential. He freaked out people with what he introduced to the world of Rock, on his guitar. He did things that nobody even dreamed were possible. When he played for the first time in a small London pub in England, guys like Pete Townsand, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page were in the audience to see this young Black guy from America, who thought he was as good as them. Not only was he as good, he blew those guys out of the water. They were shocked at not just his playing prowess, but what he was playing, and what the hell was he doing to get all of those crazy sounds out of his Stratocaster? Eric Clapton was literally shaking so bad in disbelief at what he just heard Hendrix play, that Pete Townsand had to take his shaking hand and light his smoke for him. Townsand famously said to a still visibly shaken Clapton, "This guy is going to put us all out of business." When you can make guys like Townsand and Clapton feel inferior, you're not just good, you are special. Jimi was special.

Lee, your observations on past and present are humbling. We are all time travellers ...we move forward in time...and we have the greatest gift in this ether in that we can bring the past with us.The greatest musical, literature ...whatever ....we can see and learn from and make things better going forward, No one wants to go back and change our past.....but we can take our past and change our future.

Theres a reason Souls,like Myself & Others,have been listening to Jimi for 50 Plus years, 54 here. he was right down to Earth and Cosmic as heck too, Man. One of a kind and once in a lifetime. I was 12 years old when Jimi left this Planet, I found out a few years later that I could have seen him at 12 yrs old for 5 dollars. I literlaly sat on my bed and cried at this. Special is the word. Play on Jimi,Play on,Man!

this was a wild show where Hendrix had driven the crowd into a near frenzy , unfortunately like a lot of live Hendrix were' unable to see the insane theatrics and guitar tricks Jimi usually pulled out on Voodoo Child - playing under his legs rubbing up against the amp ect.. the last few lead riffs are with his teeth.

It's hard to imagine Jimi without Mitch but he only got the job on the toss of a coin. They couldn't decide whether to go with Mitch or Ainsley Dunbar and so tossed a coin to decide, the rest is history

Jaco Pastorius did a similar thing when i saw Weather Report. He was by himself on stage for his solo. At the end he laid his bass on the ground and walked off the stage as the feedback and rumbling of his bass continued.

Your ruminations are most interesting and insightful, you always say way more than you realize. The world IS run by capitalist oligarchs, hidden in plain sight. You don't benefit from capitalism, only capitalists do. You benefit from free enterprise. There's a world of difference. Jimi got out of the army and said, "Now what? I might as well become the greatest musical innovator the world has ever known. Other than Mozart that is who wrote symphonies at age six. I'm getting a late start, I'd better get my butt in gear." Words to that effect. His effortless shredding was almost an afterthought. A lot of guitarists can shred. Jimi created and explored new worlds. Here then gone. I think it up and my reaction is the same as it was those many years ago - "What the..."

@davescurry6912 күн бұрын
"Voodoo Chile" is the long, slow blues on Side One of Electric Ladyland. The shorter, heavier, proto-metal classic featured here (and on Side Four of Electric Ladyland) is "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".
@hesch-tag12 күн бұрын
I have a book with a photo of the original lyrics and it says Voodoo Child slight return. However somewhere on that same piece of paper he also wrote Voodoo Chile slight return. So I guess to Jimi they were just the same. I prefer Child because it makes it less confusing as the longer version definitely is called Voodoo Chile.

IT'S THE MOST MONSTRUOUS THING YOU WILL SEE OF A GUITARIST, A MUSICIAN.... IT'S NOT SOMETHING NORMAL😂😢....I, wish the best to you and your followers for 2025 ✌️ Peace from France guys ✌️
