This show plays a critical role in enlightening the community and what stands out is that we can never know our future (where we are going) if we don't know our history. African communities had a well laid structure that held it's fabric structure intact. Social, Political, Economic and Spiritual aspects were well balanced. This revolution is Both Economic and Spiritual in nature.

Allow me to chip in as a Ugandan. I admire Jimi's knowledge, eloquence and courage. While I agree with him that Kenya has reached a watershed moment (and everyone can see that), I think he falls short in framing the solution. The chain that now needs to be broken is East Africas internal borders. We must remove them and dismantle the post-colonial sovereignties. These borders were not here before the wazungu came. They were set up for colonial administrative reasons but ended up creating sovereignties and ruling elites that have sucked these countries dry in partnership with imperial capital. Kenya is the best example. Currently Kenya is obstructing trade with Uganda: dairy, sugar, maize, eggs etc. How will you create jobs for millions of Gen Zs if you do not remove trade barriers, expand markets and grow the regional economy? And why is there trade obstruction? Because taxes must be raised to support the lifestyles of the political class in kenya. There is need to completely re-imagine and re-engineer the state in East Africa and that must include removing colonial sovereignties to create a regional sovereignty with one large market, so that the market does what the post-colonial state cannot do for the people. East Africa stands at a major historical juncture. Huge solutions are required to deal with huge problems. Lets be clear: Kenya's problems are humongous and they cannot be solved within the framework of Kenya. As Jimi says, Kenya has reached the end of the road. You must think outside the Kenyan box. And neither can Uganda find its own solutions. We must think like East Africans.
@redhillhero19753 ай бұрын
great viewpoint brother
@patriot_20223 ай бұрын
We Kenyans have a generally different view. We see that it is more practical and reasonable to pursue good governance in Kenya, than fantasize about collapsing borders of 8 countries into one. In this region, it is only Uganda that holds this view. There is many other countries here, and that issue is not a priority for any. And let's say it were for a moment. Do you have any idea what that will lead to? Immediate civil war. Recognize that we are of vastly different thinking, not just shaped by our 6-7 decades of self-rule, but also nature. This whole region never had a single government before, so it's not like the colonialists broke it up. Kenya has not reached the end of the road. In actual fact, it is just taking off better. The old system is slowly dying out, and a new one is emerging. Ruto will be the last president in this system. Kenya's problems today, do not touch anything outside the present borders of Kenya. Solving trade issues does not require collapsing and merging countries. Right now, all Africa should focus on making AfCTA a success. And that too does not require the entire continent to become one country.
@patriot_20223 ай бұрын
You realize that East Africa is not only Kenya and Uganda. It is also Tanzania (which is not very keen on this question), Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, South Sudan and Somalia. One will be really not sober to think these countries can or should give up sovereignty, collapse their borders and become one large country. There is internal solutions to every internal issue. Cross border issues have cross border solutions not collapsing border solution.
@eastafricanist91563 ай бұрын
@@patriot_2022 Thank you for your views, ndugu. While the region may not have been governed as one country before colonialism, it certainly did not have hard borders either, and sovereignties changed many times over the course of history so there is no reason to suggest that they can't change again. Secondly, if you lived in a land-locked country like Uganda you would probably have a different view point. The main reason Kenyans and Tanzanians are not as enthusiastic about the removal of internal borders is because they live in coastal states and do not have to bear the costs of having their trade access to the world regulated by others. So there is no intrinsic merit in your view point, just historical prejudice and self interest. But history is not static. What is good today may not be good tomorrow. Global security and strategic dynamics are not constant either. As the Western powers who have been "protecting" us decline, the need for African countries to band together for their own security will become more clear. From a historical and a strategic view point, it is very difficult to sustain the argument for keeping Africa balkanized. The merger of African sovereignties will not come because of love for each other but rather the need to survive in a changing world. Thanks
@patriot_20223 ай бұрын
@@eastafricanist9156 Sovereignties changing had only been an outcome of wars. Is that what you advocate for? Competition for who rules where? Because that is what happened in the past, and we have grown beyond that now. (We don't know if Uganda ever did because it is the only member of this region that imagined itself ruling parts of Kenya) No one needs to copy and paste the past. What people had then, was what was possible and practical based on the issues they had. What we will continue to have today, is what is determined by the facts of today. Not a nostalgia about what was. You have just said something about lacking intrinsic merit and self interest? This perfectly explains Uganda. Self interest. You want to collapse our borders because you want the coast. what can get more selfish than that? Uganda is not the only landlocked country in Africa, let alone in the world. Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan..none of these share that view. Why? Let's talk about merit and self interest. Why isn't CAR, Chad, and such countries trying to collapse borders of neighbours with coastlines? And in Southern Africa you are not hearing Zambia, Malawi, Botswana trying to merge Southern Africa so that they get the coast. Uganda is selfish and not sincere.
