I pulled a dry bulk tank with a 2017 pete like that straight truck it had a paccar with a 10 speed Eaton advantage automatic transmission it was a bad setup when you backed up you didn’t know if you were going 6 inches or 6 feet when you pulled out on busy road you were hoping in wouldn’t hesitate and get you run over I was happy to get back in a 13 speed 3 years later

As a FYI, my son was just telling me the other day that he was working on a truck just like this to fix some problems that the SP /DOT inspectors cited the truck for. He had to install back up lights on the fork lift for when it was on the truck and the truck was in reverse. Just a FYI to think on. Not sure where it failed the inspection but the repair was in Syracuse.

What model Allison transmission is in the Peterbilt? I really like the Allison TC-10 which is a true hydraulic full automatic transmission with a torque converter. It was unfortunately discontinued a few years ago. The torque converter has one major advantage many people are unaware of is the torque multiplication. The main reason for it being discontinued was low sales which was due to the shift to integrated power trains which is where the truck manufacturer makes their own engine and transmissions. I built a TC-10 and mated it to a 12.7 Series 60 for a Kenworth glider.

The bobtail flatbed DEFINITELY needs sum Major cleaning in the interior & sum work on the steering wheel with the upholstery degradation. Seems that the engine has been Well conditioned on it

Hi Justin, well looks like you may have a decent local delivery truck there. Hopefully it doesn’t have too many bugs! Out of curiosity how much did you end up doing to the engine? Looks like a mechanic sprayed the red paint on it. Usually that’s a good sign the mechanic takes pride in his work. Looks like the little guy is gonna be stealing your driving job away in a few weeks! Looked like he enjoyed it! Hope you have continued success! Stay safe!

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day that has been working as a heavy duty mechanic for years, some ag but mostly for oilfield companies working on frac equipment as well as highway tractors ( and is certified to do CVIP's on trucks, trailers etc as not all mechanics are ). So there's a guy who has been working for many years in this industry and has his class 3 license ( can drive the tractor only with that ) .... yet they allow him to drive trucks and pull trailers ONLY in their yard. Lately he had a company driver instructor go out in the yard and help him practice to back super b trailers. See where I am going with this, even mechanics that never will drive commercially, some companies will assist in teaching their mechanics how to drive to be able to handle the equipment to move it around as needed to work on it in the shop or yard. Thought you might find this interesting, by the way I am in Alberta.

Interesting!!!! Yes. Something we will be doing more of
@charlesb42674 ай бұрын
@@flintcreektransport Yes I suspected so, just encouraging the practice !. Having said that one still has factor in that there is no way some practice will produce the same skill behind the wheel in the yard or shop that the person who is hired to drive for you will have and to ask with no shame, having a mechanic ask a skilled person to manoeuvre a unit they do not feel confident in handling.

Automatic easier on the driver round town, but how do they compare for fuel consumption? Automatic cars are always thirstier than manual ones.

Justin that looks like a 6 Speed transmission. When the truck is at operating temperature and on level ground push the two arrows at the same time. It will give you some information on the health of the transmission. By the way who painted that engine? I see a lot of over spray.
