Don't be reluctant to draft players because of age because if they're good, they'll play until their mid thirties anyway. And older players can still improve by playing with better teammates. And young players full of potential is also a gamble because of the short contracts.

@THEEJoeSmith The thought is that there is more room to develop a 19 year old vs a 23 year old. People in the top 5 are looking to draft a franchise player that can be an allstar. I was glad to see your very realistic and objective take on Buzelis. He might be the classic case of someone who shines in Summer League, but it doesn't translate to the regular season. He obviously has some athletic skills. Nobody was more fun to watch in the layup line before the game. He'll definitely be in the dunk contest in the future. And he had some spectacular highlights during the games. But it seemed to be somewhat dependent on who was out there for the other team. Many Summer League teams don't have a real NBA-quality center, and interior defense can be weak. When Matelis was facing real NBA frontcourt players, as in the Golden State game, he got brutally stuffed over and over. In garbage time, he was padding his stats like crazy. I have to confess that my opinion is colored by the fact that he was the dirtiest player I saw in this Summer League. I was isolating on watching him, and on defense, off the ball, he was constantly trying cheap shots, throwing elbows, grabbing guys' arms from behind and trying to trip them, etc. If he tries that on Draymond, he might wind up on the IL. He did get flattened on one play, off the ball, when he tried to trip the opponent from behind. He looked at the ref for a foul, and the ref just shook his head.

I think the Rockets need to trade Amen Thompson, he's in Reed's way at the 1, and can't shoot....and Cam Whitman might be pretty good at the 3. Trading Thompson to Phoenix might be good for both teams! Thompson can play the 1, and he doesn't have to shoot well!

@@icecubesbrother so you want to trade one of your best young players who has proved he can contribute in the nba and is the perfect archatype for where the leauge is going and a top 10 rookie for a guy whos played good for 4 games against rookies, gleaugers, and decent 2nd year players in the SUMMER LEAGUE and hasnt played a single nba minute. Why would they clear out space when amen is miles ahead of him and can actually play defense also what will phoniex give the rockets the only person they’re willing to trade wnd would be decent for the rockets is a expiring kd and fred jalen kd jabari and sengun starting lineup is not winning a chip and kd only has a few years left and ad going to the lakers was lebrons idea and won them to a chip

@@simeon8967 fair points! Yes, to the first point, because even though Thompson can play good defense, and has the height, that the league is trending to, Sheppard fits the role better, and can shoot! Thompson can learn to shoot, but now he is a liability on offense. I don't know who should be targeted on Phoenix, but I definitely wouldn't suggest KD. The league does some stupid stuff! Sheppard can shoot, doesn't mean you force him to play the 2. He can do more Thompson can... Nothing against Thompson..... and I think Whitman is going to surpass him on offense! But, of Whitman can play decent defense, Thompson career starts getting messy! If there's a trade to be made, with his existing skills, he can work in Phoenix.
