I remember part of an interview where he talked about that he didn't intend to be a singer, but rather a song writer. But, when his singing career suddenly took off he said to himself that he better get some singing lessons, and he did. He said he trained with a voice coach for a while so he wouldn't embarrass himself. I love that he was so humble, so joyful, and so successful. He really made an effort to never let his fans down.
