The non-american comedians made this clip very interesting and hilarious. As far as I can tell, the only input from the American comedians was the 'brain cum' comment, a pretty immature and shallow joke that would just get a 'hah' usually, but the other three expanded it and put it spontaneously into a song, making it go from a 'hah' to a 'pahahahahaha' :') without Ed, Tim and Jimmy this would be a no show for me 100%

Tris Amon I honeslty don't care, in a nutshell, the fat guy with the yellow t-shirt, he didn't even try and it just looked awkward, like he was trying to shoot-down jimmy, the fact is though, this is a major backlash because jimmy is funnier than him and people who are like that shouldn't be in comedy, they're not funny because they're awkward and just look butthurt. Why would I want to watch someone butt-hurt. Comedy happens when you talk about something daft and turn it funny, acting like it's not funny is the most over-used material amateur comedians ever use... it really should only be used for something that's not funny at all "braincum" as the way Jimmy explained it was actually pretty damn funny. God, have to explain this shit but you're so salty. All these flavours, and you choose to be salty.

I assume, without knowing, that the one who is fond of hearing himself talk is Carr. Dear heavens, he is pretentious and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. You could see from Tim Minchin's face and eye roll that he found Carr to be obnoxiously full of himself. That's why Tim got up and went to the piano. That's also why the audience cheered Tim before he even began playing. It was clear that Carr was annoyed to be interrupted by music. I can't imagine that Carr's book will sell more than 10 copies. I also can't imagine that Carr is funny when he does his routines but he must be or he wouldn't be on the show. The difference between him and Tim is that Tim is funny when he does his routines but he's also a warm and unprepossessing person who listens to others rather than commanding the floor all the time.

Tim Minchin is one of the best musicians and lyricists of our time. He is a self taught virtuosic pianist. He wrote the music to Matilda and Groundhog Day musicals. He is also a poet, writer, director, actor and comedian. He wrote and acted in TV series Upright, directed Dreamworks animated film Larrikins (sadly it got canned when it was nearly finished because the studio got bought out), played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar stage production... Jimmy Carr takes comedy very seriously and has spent a very long time looking into the psychology of it. It’s a passion of his and he’s written a book on the subject. He was perhaps naive to think that other comedians would be as equally fired up as he is to discuss that aspect of their craft. But he has the good grace to laugh when others are mocking him. And, to be fair, they’ve pretty much invited him to talk about his theory of comedy, and appear to be listening. But Minchin? Don’t get me wrong - he is very intelligent, very funny and very talented. But in this clip he also shows himself to be very rude and very ungracious. Not only to Carr, but to all the other guys who he’s singing over when they’re trying to speak.
@tigger40113 жыл бұрын
I'm with you on this - Minchin just wasn't funny. The Naked Jape is a brilliantly well researched book. Would recommend it (can be found 2nd hand from Amazon etc.). Oh - and it was called Only Joking in the US.

It's a heavily edited clip. That conversation had been going on for around twenty minutes by the time Tim first interrupts him and almost another five by the time he goes to the piano.
@Yohoat2 жыл бұрын
Imagine feeling like any of this shit matters. These are performers with yet another camera on them. One of them is literally advertising to you, and the rest are maintaining an image so they can sell out venues at a later date. Who cares if they interrupt each other, they can preach about whatever they want at a different time with no fear of being unheard.
@Gazza73482 Жыл бұрын
I think you are the one trying to seem intelligent with this comment and the only funny thing about it is, how much effort you have put into devising this ridiculous little outburst yet how wrong you are, very rude? Jimmy was talking about his book for about half an hour and only once he was basically starting to finish did Tim do is bit, this segment was literally all about comedians and comedy, when the people watching bought the tickets or decided to go, they expected to laugh and for their to be funny jokes, I don't see a single unhappy face in the crowd as Tim walks to the piano, get over yourself. You and the others agreeing with this stupid point are so stupid.
@PianoDiary85 Жыл бұрын
There is a longer version. This version is cut and it does make Tim look a bit bad (despite making things more interesting). It wasn't really like that, and I think they are actually intentionally feeding Tim words. They don't just have a piano there for nothing. I've watched a lot of panel shows with him, always expecting him to be incredibly funny as so much of his material is to a large degree improvised (as he also says in this clip), but it seems he's not that interested in being funny outside of his stand-up he'd rather be more intellectual and show that side of him, which is totally fair.
