There was a 10 year age difference between Elvis and Priscilla and she was 16 when things got serious. I think the time period had a lot to do with it - Jerry Lee Lewis's sister was allowed to marry at 9 or 10 ( which is obviously bad) and my grandmother got married at 12. Which is also bad, but that was 1939. It's a lot worse to hear stories about that stuff now. To me it is anyway.

He comes off the way that a white guy who has a lot of black friends would if the group were sharing racial jokes just for fun. Racist people tend to come across like there is a legitimate disdain behind their words. It's called nonverbal communication. I could be wrong, but having been around many people similar to what I've described, I believe that I have an accurate sensitivity to understanding the context.
