Welcome to the Letterman KZbin Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

This is the first time I have seen this. President Carter was so down to earth and had such a good heart. He was genuinely friendly and talkative. He was the first President I got to vote for. I had Carter bumper stickers on my car, and I loved him then because I knew he was a good man. He really cared for this country and the people. RIP President Carter. You will always be missed.

@@owlperchedsilo3745 I remember something about Iran holding hostages and releasing them shortly after a republican was elected.... i remember an energy crisis manufactured by a middle eastern country.... i remember Carter creating the situation in Afghanistan that led to the fall of a dreaded enemy (now an admired power, according to repubs) that Reagan took credit for. I remember a lot of things. Because I was around in '77 through '81. huh.

I’d love to tell you guys of the three-day long campaign I had when I was 14, to try to talk with Dave on air during filming in order to get an invite to the show as a guest as the 14-year-old impressionist. I was really good at voice impressions and I called NBC as Jimmy Carter. The next to last call I made, I actually spoke with Hal Gurnee in the booth during the show’s taping! My mom and her best friend, Lil, were stunned I got that far. There’s more to the story, but that’s for Dave & Barbara to hear. Anyway… thank you for posting this video.

President Carter was , is and for ever be the Best President and Human being America had ...ever...Maybe Trump could come a step close if he gets permanent peace with Isreal... Palestians..and the middle East in general... including Iran....It's all in his hands now.... Hope he is guided not by people but first by God...

He was a nuclear engineer in the navy, which never seems to get mentioned, and performed a great act of courage in that time. He went in at imminent personal risk, and stabilised a problem that would have destroyed the area. He was tested for radiation for years afterwards.

Not a nuclear engineer. As part of his time serving as an officer in the US Navy, he briefly studied nuclear reactor technology / power plant operation in a special Navy-sponsored non-credit graduate-level course at a college in upstate New York, but from that coursework alone, it would be inaccurate to describe him as a nuclear engineer.
