@@zefallafez Reagan was the phony.. He made a back door deal with Iran to hold the hostages until he was sworn in as President.. That means, as a private citizen, he undermined the health and welfare of the hostages and negotiated with a foreign government for his own political benefit which is and was a crime. Furthermore, he traded arms and money for the hostages.. furtively. Carter was a decent and honest man who was too moral to counter the underhanded maneuverings of Cheney, Baker and The West Coast industrial corporations that they represented.

As it has been often said about Jimmy Carter: A good man, but a bad President. He tried but the country needed a different kind of person in the late 70s-early 80s to deal with the kind of problems people were facing. There is a reason Reagan beat him in landslide in 1980 in the worst defeat of an incumbent President since FDR beat Hoover. I think if Carter had been in elected in 1992, when the country was in a more stable position, he probably would have done better.
@RobertaPowell-kt5zu

@@FlintIronstag23 He was actually better as president. Inflation and the hostages cost him the presidency. Now we expect both.
@FlintIronstag23
@FlintIronstag23 Күн бұрын
@@RobertaPowell-kt5zu Yes, he definitely had to contend with many issues as President. He just didn't do enough to alleviate the problems or at least give the impression that he was going to alleviate them. In 1980, Carter carried only 6 states in the electoral college and got just 41% of the popular vote. Those are horrendous numbers for an incumbent President. You can't explain Reagan's overwhelming victory in 1980 if the public thought Carter did a good, or even decent, job as President.

A sad day indeed. Jimmy Carter had his challenges as president, but he is far and away the most successful ex-president we will ever see. Thank you, Mr. President, for being a true gentleman, humanitarian, and inspiration. I still remember my senior year in high school, cutting class along with about a dozen others, so we could all go to a nearby friend's house to watch the Carter inauguration. I vividly recall Jimmy and Roselynn walking up the avenue, waving to the crowds. The only time I ever cut class, and it was worth it to see history unfold. We may never again see such integrity in the future. Maybe that's why Jimmy felt it was time to let go.💔

By gone are the days when an ex president didn’t want to say ill of another former president. President Jimmy Carter was a decent simple man who never changed even after being the President of the United States. A true American Hero, who dedicated his life in the service of the people and most notably the less fortunate, across the globe. RIP President Jimmy Carter..🙏

@@61stratman "By gone are the days when an ex-president didn't want to say ill of another former president." You realize that was just recently, don't you? tRump started that, just as he's lowered the bar on nearly everything presidential.

With all of the news sources I subscribe to, my David Letterman KZbin subscription is always the first to report. Anyway, this news makes me very sad. Jimmy Carter was the first President I ever voted for, having turned 18 in the Summer of 1976. I believe he was a great, honest, and sincere man. May he forever rest in peace.🥺❤

He was so personable and humble, charming, ans smart as a tack. So talented he could have been a talk show hostor comedian, an engineer, a military man, anything he wanted to be.

Carter was funny, even self-deprecating. The guy coming up has never said a funny thing, or shown a genuine smile. He only knows how to be mean.

Usually the guest entering is cut straight to the couch on these videos. Showing the ovation is classy of this channel. If I've misread intentionality where there is none , this is still a nice tribute to Jimmy Carter.
