@@ianleiper The trash you mentioned above certainly is that today's "Celtic Confectionaries",as called by the initiated! The best of the authentic material has been locked up for long,"thanks" to BBC (....) But fortunately it starts running up again. We should celebrate this!! And what a great recording,a well selected company indeed. And 1000 thanks for posting! It's more worth than all of my LP's together!! And as for Sir Jimmy.....if there had been more of such persons,we 'd have had a better world!!!

Well Ian, I dont know from where you delved this from, but it is certainly a form of buried treasure. Each and every artiste in their own right masters at their craft in their lifetime. Jean Redpath and her timeless rendering of Dumbarton*s Drums never to be surpassed.

I first became acquainted with the music of Jimmy Shand in 1978 when I was traveling in Scotland with my parents and we spent the night at a bed and breakfast in Auchtermuchty, within sight of Jimmy's house. (My mom and I are descended from the Gilchrist clan in the highlands.) The family we stayed with pushed the furniture back, rolled up the rugs, and we spent the night learning Scottish dances and getting acquainted with this wonderful music. I've been a fan ever since. I will never forget that wonderful night.

Absolutely love this. Love all music such as cinema organ, glam rock, jazz, Country, hymns, classical, 80's 70's, 60's 50's 40's, 30's etc, prog rock, opera, musicals, the list goes on. Makes me think of my lovely parents. Lost Dad in 1980 when I was 14, and Mum 3 1/2 years ago. Put music like this on then start fo feel I want to cry.

Hello everyone. My name is Martin Mohan. I am from Donegal now living in the States. I lived and worked in Scotland a long time ago and learned about the Legendary Jimmy Shand. I posted that video hoping someone would like it. It is on You Tube. If you guys would like to hear some of Jimmy's playing over the years just Google his name a d it is there I have some of his albums and compositions since I play the accordion. They said there would never be another Jimmy Shand however there is a young man by the name of Brandon McPhee. He was a child prodigy. The critics and judges say he plays just like Jimmy. He plays the Shand Morino accordion the same type as Jimmy played.
