I noticed a lot of big guys had perms back in the 80's They were going bald and the perm kinda covered their bald spot. I remember when my gym teacher who was pretty jacked got his. He was not on steroids school teachers couldn't afford them like these guys did. Steroids weren't considered bad back then

It's very rare now a days to such a Huge Muscles in Action...
@gnrvintagediecastracing79782 ай бұрын
The large muscles started to come in during the Billy Graham era. Not many, a guy here and there. In the 60s and early 70s, you don't see it, by the 80s and to the early 90s it was from superstart to jobber with large mass. Then slowly worked its way back out of the system in the ensuing decades. Most of the guys in the 80s died in the 40s to 50s with steriod related causes.. the list is long. Where as prior to that plenty of non heavy set wrestlers lived into their 80s. Its a good thing the wrestles don't need to be juiced in order to watch them.

You gotta be a little saucy to be that chunky and shredded. It was a sad day when I learned that Arnold et al were all on steroids. Even still, the dedication to get that big and not blow out a heart or liver is really impressive.

This is from the legendary Houston Wrestling promotion. Promoter Paul Boesch is on the mic. Irish Danny McShane is the referee, and yeah, he was pretty old here. But Boesch kept him around even in his later years. It was considered NWA territory but Paul wouls bring in wrestlers from other promotions all the time. What memories...

The days of Cheif Jay Strongbow, Rocky Maivia, Rocky Johnson, A younger Andre the Giant, Superstar Billie Graham, Ivan Putskl, Gorilla Monsoon, Domenic Denuci. Those were just some that I remember. Saturday afternoon from 1975/ 76 to 80 on our local station. The next era that got my attention was Stone Cold, the Rock and Cena.
@JuliusC19734 ай бұрын
So you grew up watching The WWWF/WWF it sounds like? This was Houston Wrestling and their Shows had Wrestlers from The WWWFF + AWA + NWA Promotions. You might see Regional Championships Defended and World Championships Defended. This was one of the better Professional Wrestling Promotions.

@@JuliusC1973 Ya, my brothers and I got a kick out of the " little wrestlers as well. They were hilarious. I live in Northwestern PA. So seeing Mr Fuji in action on our local station was something. Not to mention the managers. The Wizard, Classy Freddie Blassy, I think the other one I remember besides Lou Albano was Oliver Humperdink?

I dont know why people talk about fight, fight, fight all the time watching WWF/WWE. I am surprised to know even today people think these are fights, rather its an all act, nothing else
@tubewrestler593 ай бұрын
People tend to appreciate the athleticism involved in performing these stunts because it’s still dangerous, regardless of the predetermined and worked outcomes. Most professional wrestlers have suffered real injuries and are broken down after retirement, from years of taking bumps. It’s an exhibition yes, but most people can’t survive the rigorous schedule of absorbing slams, so I think fans respect their ability to perform.
