What a man!!! He was my fav player before Ronnie took the world by storm...me dad maintained that Jimmy was the best player out of Ronnie,Alex Higgins and himself...after seeing this I am starting to think maybe if Jimmy had been better under pressure he would have been multiple world champ...The man just decided to make a 155 for God's sake!! Respect!!!

@@T-Tuohy he had a tendancy to miss crucial shots and his opponents took no prisoners. That's who Jimmy was unfortunately what he accomplished is great enough on its own but he never manged to handle the pressure of those 6 world finals.

@@josephelliasmine125 He avoided the narcotics and alcohol mostly during the World Champs. However, as you say, when he got nervous, he sped up, as we all do. This means you stop thinking and checking. Hendry, Parrott and Davis who beat him, were the opposite. When Higgins beat him in 82 semi, Higgins was taking narcotics to focus him and made him play incredible at the end of matches. Jimmy just didn't have the robot control mind that all the sports greats have

I played with him two years ago while a exhibition in Germany. I had the bingo in the ticket lottery to play a match with him. Sure, I had no chance but it was a great pleasure and honour for me. He is a very kindle guy and gentlemen. By the way Michaela Tabb was the referee of the match, a pleasure too. He won 66:13 ;-)

If it's true it was utterly amazing, I doubt very much that McManus would lend his self to a con, evidently a 155 was confirmed of another player at Stoke in the UK. I've downloaded it so I'll study it more closely.

Jimmy for sure wasnt short of ability & talent. His biggest weakness was his inability to hold his nerves at crucial moments. In fact he couldve even beaten Alex Higgins in 82 & met Reardon in the final, but missed a crucial long pot by a mile. By his own admission too, he partied a lot more than he should have.

edited. A few edits are actually very obvious, a ball suddenly changing speed after its hit a cushion etc...
@JustMitchPool
@JustMitchPool 8 жыл бұрын
Cushions can do that for many reasons. 'Dead cushion bounce' 'negative spin on cue ball'. Then can even do the opposite, 'unattended big bounce of cushion' 'positive spin on cue ball'. A little information for you but yes there's multiple camera that doesn't help people views. It should of been one camera continuous recording the 155.

No matter what you say jimmy is a natural talent and Tony meo too who learnt their snooker as youngsters playing for "the lights" and very little coaching just playing playing playing ! Not like the kids of today taught like robots and potting machines . Well that's great but we will NEVER see the likes of White and Meo I feel never again as that era can't come around again for all the academy's that are about all over the world teaching robot snooker! There is no one bar Ronnie will ever come close to the 100% pure NATURAL talent that Alex Higgins jimmy white and Tony Meo ever had and I bet we don't see these kind of players ever come through again

How did the free ball occur? :)
@michaelolson6982
@michaelolson6982 6 жыл бұрын
The odds of getting a foul that will leave 15 reds snookered and getting a free ball situation is extremely low hence it has probably only happened less than ten times in professional match circumstances, not to mention total clearance with just black ball.

I dont see the red change position tho, the red by the blue was always there, clearly viable at 5:35 on the long table camera angle, not when he takes that shot tho, then at 5:44 its visable when he takes the shot there so it looks like a new red has appeared. I might be wrong but I aint got time to check anymore, I need a poo cya
@JalandharShere

he didnt do this in one go. ive noticed a red which changes position so im under the presumption that he missed a red and then had it respotted and took shot again. freeze video on 5.35 and 5.44. red is in front of pink in first shot and then level with pink in second frame shot.

I think the main point is that if you want to encounter a situation like this, the pack must be spread like that. Logically, you cant have a scene that the pack is intact but a freeball is called. Your opponent and you have to do several safety exchanges until he misses and snookered you to end up like this. Unless he is retarded to miss the pack on the opening shot. So I think the guys who said this is not difficult hadnt thought the point i concern.

I hate how people constantly mistake the intention of these videos. Thorne and O'Sullivan made them and everyone talks about the cuts as if they were deceiving us. It's a hypothetical break, set up as advice on how to make a 147 (155 on this occasion).

+MrUnterward It is one take , if you watch the video properly you can see that they filmed it with several different cameras positioned all around the table . They used the different angles from those cameras and made it into one video , all in one take but using the footage from several different cameras .

yes, but is the opponent does a foul and you are snookered on all reds, then you have a free ball right? So, you can use any colour as a red ball (which in effect makes it like there are 16 reds on a table, not 15 like normal. Pot all with blacks plus colour clearance, and you get 155 :-O

+Sean Lynch The Highest break is 147 under normal circumstances. A 155 break is possible if the opponent fouls and gives a free ball away. The first colour is classed as the extra red and then a black is 8 and then 15 reds and fifteen blacks and all the colours gives a 155.
