Yeah. Especially 1992 when he lead 12-6 and 14-8. He looked unassailable.

The interview with the players at the end of the match is gold. Even in victory, Stephen Hendry lived in Jimmy's head for free.

Shocking that this tournament used to be called the Masters warmup event even though it was a ranking tournament and most of the last 32 could not compete at the Masters.

Jimmy never beat hendry when it really mattered 4 world finals lost but beat him in world matchplay first to 18
@Facelessman254
@Facelessman254 3 жыл бұрын
Tbf he did beat hendry in the 88 and 98 world championships although they wasn't in the finals. I guess he just felt the pressure alot more in the actual final itself whereas stephen even at such a young age was just the best player in the world who could handle pressure even with the crowd against him in favour of jimmy

Not that unimportant a meeting. It was a ranking final after all. Hendry never seemed to win many of those ITV tournaments at the time. Most of those events on ITV counted towards the rankings.

@dvidclapperton the only ITV events Hendry would win at this time were the 1988 and 1991 British Opens. He could never get his hands on the Mercantile or the Matchplay

Considering snooker is about potting balls on a table, it's been reasonably good prize money since the 80's. Snooker prize money can't be related to sports where risk of personal injury, or even death is a greater risk. Top 16 players generally turn out to be millionaires so it's about right. Excessive money in sport just spoils everything and only leads to greater corruption.

take a look at this shot choice from Jimmy and tell me why these are the kind of shot choices that never won him a world title and probably one of the reasons why he only won 9 ranking titles 35:25

I agree with what your saying but he loved to entertain and he could never refuse a pot , his whole game plan was about attack! And that’s what had everyone on the edge of their seats ! But the man should have won 10 world titles with the talent he had !!
