UPDATED on August 23, 2017, Kyrie Irving was TRADED to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic & Brooklyn Nets' 2018 unprotected 1st-round pick! 8 days later, the Boston Celtics agreed to send the Cleveland Cavaliers a 2020 second-round draft pick via the Miami Heat to complete the trade, as compensation for Isaiah Thomas' failed physical. First of all, Kyrie never really wanted to play with LBJ to begin with, not that he had something specifically against LBJ, it’s more like he never actually thought he would have to. When he signed a max deal with the Cavs, Dan Guilbert promised him the keys to the franchise, told him he’d be the man, the future and the star they would build around.. Kyrie loved hearing that, loved getting the support from the owner, he had every reason to believe it was true and it was at the time, No one ever thought LBJ would have gone back home... but he did, he actually did and Dan Guilbert had a decision to make. Do I continue to build around Kyrie or do I rebuild around this mega star which just so happens to be the best player in the game? He chose the latter and the results speak for themselves, 3 straight Finals & 1 title and it actually should have been 2 titles had Kyrie and K-Love not gotten injured back in the 2015 playoffs!
