About the ratios, here's an example: The 10th gen Civic Si has a 6 speed transmission, the last two gears being overdrive: Gear Ratios: 1st: 3.643, 2nd: 2.080, 3rd: 1.361, 4th: 1.024, 5th: 0.830, 6th: 0.686. From: hondanews.com/releases/2017-civic-si-specifications-features That means that at those gears, the torque at the wheels will definitely be lower at the wheels compared to the crankshaft. (this affirmation is wrong) Performance shops generally do dyno runs at third gear, so not the highest possible wheel torque That would be in reverse due to the slightly closer ratio than the first, as stated before by Gonzo. I'm not sure how the manufacturers measure the power and torque of their cars, or even if they follow a precise regulation to do it.

IF he has the Large Mige (which I assume is it due to 30Nm Servo Capability), and it set to deliver full amperage and MMOS to 100% then he was running 27.9Nm so the actual estimated outputs would have been (60Nm = 46.5%, 45Nm = 62%, 29.5Nm = 94.6%) So he wasn't even at 100% output from the servo.. that being said the HBD was clipping a bit in the bumps which means it actually puts out Higher than the 29.5Nm at times through the telemetry.. Of course you wouldn't want to drive the car with no power steering, etc.. and you would probably actually want to adjust the filters to control the wheel more if you were to use these powers consistently.. Not to say it would be easy, but calming the wheel would make it easier..
@Ronin-en6hm4 жыл бұрын
@@brionsohn2705 but I don't get how the less amount of nm means more struggle to turn
@brionsohn27054 жыл бұрын
@@Ronin-en6hm that is because the Max Force number in iRacing indicates the point in telemetry where iRacing outputs 100% to the wheel so if you set it at 25Nm then the 0-100% range is from 0 - 25Nm+ of telemetry.. if ou set it at 60Nm then the range now is 0% @ 0 and 100% at 60.. so if you run a car say a 488GTE and is outputting 20Nm in telemetry then having the Max force set at 25 means that iRacing will send a 80% request from the wheel where if you have it at 60Nm it will only request 33%.. so taking that further if your wheel is a 20Nm wheel then at 25Nm Max Force with an 80% output (20NM Telemetry value) to a 20Nm wheel = 16Nm at the wheel force where 60Nm Max Force with an 33% output t (20NM Telemetry value) to a 20Nm wheel = 6.6Nm at the wheel. Hence why a smaller number = more force in this situation.

Slight correction, assuming 30Nm is 100% (it's actually more like 1:1 with what the sim is calculating, it just happens to be pretty close to 100% in this car), 45Nm would be 66%, not 75%. 60Nm would indeed be 50% though. You have to think about it as "how much weaker is the force in my arms compared to what is calculated. At 45Nm, since your wheel can output 30Nm, you're scaling the forces to a factor of 30/45=0.666.... Going back to the 1:1 thing, if you set FFB to 30Nm, what iRacing does is that it scales the forces it calculates so that a 30Nm force is translated as 100% FFB. But if the car never outputs more than 15Nm, you'll never go past 50% FFB. And if the car regularly outputs 30+ Nm, you'll be clipping the FFB signal. However, when setting the FFB to whatever your wheel's maximum output is, the forces you feel in the wheel are exactly as strong as what the sim calculates (up to 30Nm, above that it's all clipped). This doesn't mean it's 1:1 with real life though, as it depends on how precise the sim's calculations are In this particular car though, it seems like 30Nm puts you fairly close to 100% a lot of the time with almost no clipping, so it's a good representation of pushing your wheel to its maximum.

If you put your thumbs trough and hit something, it will just rip out your thumbs. Doesn't need to be an offroader, you slam your daily drive into a lamp post or oncoming traffic and considerable amount of your upper body weight pushes your arms towards the wheel while your thumbs are locked inside the wheel. Same reason your legs should always be slightly bend because, again, in case of a crash your kneecaps would pop and your femur would rip off from your pelvis.

I guess that car must have a suspension failure to be that hard to turn.. I once had a mechnical breakdown at 90mph down a highway at the front wheel, damn it was hard to keep the car safe in a line.. but succes, but only because I had both hands on the stearingwheel allready.. if I havent had that, the car would have snaped and hit the guardrail.. it seems like the 100% FFB is to much and "unreal" maybe this is just for players who wants to go a bit harder !

That bcus racecar have a suspension hard af, it kinda make out of pure tungsten with no spring, all of that is to keep the wheel on the road to make the best traction

So... how do we know at what level is the most realistic level per car/tire/track? How tough is it to turn the wheel if you were actually driving that particular car on that particular track? Is there a guide, or something similar? Thanks for the video, Jimmy!

well, unless you have a friend who happens to be a car racer with all that knowledge (and willingness to try your setup), you'll probably never know

the Fanatec wheel dose not have enough torque so output would likely be clipping. but his OSW has enough output torque to get much more details, see the FFB correlations with all others: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYWvnpaOaJuKjZY

I thought F1 car with power assistant steering though. Indycars steering torque can be higher, way over 35+ Nm.....

I guess it is good overhead specifications, you are never going to be pushing the hardware to its max in normal use let's face it :D
