Being a second off from, a pro driver, on a sim he tried for the first time, is god damn impressive.
@devitomichael
@devitomichael 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not really that impressive when you consider that the real driver is driving well within his professionally honed comfort zone with no intention of actually crashing his vehicle real or simulated, whereas the fact that this is only a simulator with no real consequences if he should exceed his actual driving abilities, he could be pushing well past his skill level knowing there is nothing actually at risk. I don’t think the professional driver is making any distinction between his real vehicles and his simulations, whereas myself for example, would drive far more aggressively and carelessly way outside of my normal safety limits in reality, Many people in the safety of a simulator could pull off great times, but could they reliably and predictably pull off those same times 9 out of 10 times in reality when there is actually something to lose?

@@devitomichael With respect. That driver will have driven as well as he possible could. All racing drivers have an ego the size of a house and he would undoubtedly have seen Jimmy as a threat, and rightly so, it's a sim. The fact that he got to within one second illustrates he was right to feel threatened. It was impressive.

I disagree to a degree. I think Jimmer's skillset is the perfect balance between alien and being actually fast IRL. It's "Easy" (as in really hard) to become an Esports driver since every sim has it's quirks you can exploit, but Jimmy has experience in multiple sims and with this experience, plus the RL experience he is gaining through Karting, driving the GT4 car and so on I think he'd have a geniune chance of being successful in motorsport IRL.

What a real honor is for you to be able to take part in a REAL sim! All in all you probably surprised some people at BMW with how well you did, especially for a first time on such a complicated and realistic sim rig... so congratulations Jimmy for a job well done! now what you need to do is set up, undertake and maintain a physical fitness regimen which would help you in other ways besides sim racing and could, if you really wanted to, get into real racing. Who knows...in a couple of years, if you keep it up, you could be in a real race car, in a real race series! Thank you for all the content you've supplied online and for being a real person. Technology "similar" to this is already available to consumers for around 6k (motorized multi-axis rigs). Of course it's a far cry from the precision of this monster, but at the pace sims seem to be evolving, with laser scans of tracks and more accurate tyre/car modeling, and also the advance VR which replaces that huge screen, I reckon rigs with similar levels of accuracy could become relatively accessible within the next 10 years. Exciting stuff.

That looked like a lot of fun & a great experience, something few people get the chance to do. As a young teenager back in the 80's a few classmates & I went on a trip to Heathrow Airport to go in their Tristar flight simulator where we each got to take the controls for a take off, landing, I also asked if I could crash into the Eiffel Tower which we could see in the distance after I took off which they were ok with *. Obviously the graphics were very basic **, but thanks to it being a flight deck pod on a massive set of hydraulics it felt like the real thing during take off & landing, It was a great experience even back then so if anyone gets the opportunity to do it today jump at the chance. *Nothing really happened visually but we did get the warning alarms & a bit of shaking as we approached the tower, the next thing we knew we were flying out the otherside, I'm not sure what I was hoping for but hey I was young & it was an amazing experience. ** From what I remember it was always night time when we were in it which could've been purposely due to the visual limitations of the day, I'm pretty sure we talked about it at the time but I don't remember the details
