This gets the medal for most unorthodox use of an angle grinder I've seen. Love it
@ConcreteLand

Phil Vandelay I was thinking what part was unorthodox because he uses it a lot. Then I got to that “aha!” moment. That was a pretty cool use of a grinder.

Hello Mr DiResta, I just wanted to give you a well intended FYI. It's not usual practice in Blacksmithing to use cutting tools directly against the face of the anvil. The little step down between the horn and the face is called the cutting table, it's normally not hardened so it can be used as such without blunting your tools (or marring the face). For something too big for the table (like that beast of a knife) a cutting saddle or plate is used on the face to protect it. All the best from Blighty, great channel.

So, I love what you did with this piece, Jimmy. It's functional, and it's got a certain aesthetic quality to it. That said, it's hard to get a scale from the video, but I think you left "knife" territory about 6 inches ago. It's more of a Bowie Short Sword at this point. That doesn't stop me from wanting about ten of them.

Mr. Diresta, you always have a unique approach to skinning a cat. I imagine you would tack weld the cat to a known thickness of metal and then proceed to machine fillet the skin from the cat. Aftr watching this video I just had to make on of my own. The leaf springs came off a very large dump truck and I made several in flight modifications so that I would be able to tell my knife when laid next to Deresta's. It took me considerably longer to make it (Derista 12- 1/2 minutes Me about four days off and on). A really fun project. What wa sthe wood Derista used in his hand grip? I used ironwood and it turned very good.
