More people should be like this. I strive to do as much as I can by myself, research and learn, and jump in and start making and creating. It's the best feeling in the world when you finish a project yourself that you might have paid someone else thousands of dollars to do for you, but you get to save all of that money AND have the satisfaction and the learning experience of doing it yourself. Knowledge is power.

I did this about 6/7 years ago, the entire outside was sprayed with “Rinoliner” can’t recommend it too highly. If it not to late spray the bottom with it, it’s waterproof, bulletproof, and reasonably light. I’d be interested in how much this one weighs when your done (it’s something I worried about the entire build). Great job, fun watching it being built! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.

I'd like some kind of proof that "Rinoliner" is bullet proof. The stuff I've seen won't even stop a .380 ACP even when 2" thick.

@@torjones1701 Good point, but I think it’s a figure of speech. For it’s designed purpose, I have to say it’s a good product. I did my truck bed when I bought it back in Sept. 2005. Still going strong and the only marks aside from fading is an occasional oil stain or two. I tow a 5th wheel and when lubing the puck, some of it can splatter on the liner….

That is a sweet build!! I'm looking at it and comparing it to caravans and I would be very proud to have that behind my car it looks fantastic. I'm also thinking about other food vans and starting to realise why they are basically a big square box! Don't be surprised if you get more people asking you to build food trucks for them, for someone who hasn't built one before it really doesn't look that way with the job you've done. Really great job guy's!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

Super fun watching you build a camper. Super nice work, that thing is a beast, built a thousand times better than any similar production made camper… believe me I know…. By the way, in our shop we call those little aluminum shards “Wingdings” and they are pure evil! You’ll find them in your socks for years!

One suggestion if you aint thought about it. If you are gonna spray foam the interior (which I highly suggest) make sure you put some conduit for all the wiring and box in around the lights. I didn't to that on a small teardrop I built a few years back. Never clicked in my head until about a year later when I had to remove panels and trench in the insulation to find a short and replace a led that blew due to it. What coulda been an easy side of the road fix turned into about a week long project tracking it down after work. Now on I run all my wiring in 1/2 PVC pipe. It's light, easy to make custom bends with heat, and cheap.

I own and operate concession trailers for a living. I also build and maintain my equipment myself. Every thing you did to build this is pretty much exactly how I build stuff so it’s cool to see someone else using the material and techniques that I use. It looks fantastic. One thing I never considered was gluing the 90 aluminum trim before riveting and or screwing it down. I’ll be doing that from now on. Great video and I’m glad I could learn something.

Great job Ryan and Taylor and everyone else. Freaking incredible! The first time I took on a big landscaping job. I eyeballed it and gave an estimate and oh my god did I underbid it! Very nice 👍 The only thing I would have done differently is use aluminum for the structure to save weight. Back in the late 90's I built 2 truck bed campers, one with wood and steel framing and the other with aluminum, the aluminum one is still in use and was about 2/3 the weight. A tree fell on the other one.

Hey Jimmy a trick when doing curved metal We use when insulating/metaling tanks and vessels is use bungee cord. actual cordage off a roll. you can pull it tight and tie a knot in it. It will hold the metal to the curve while you install it with rivets or screws. This will hopefully be a good tool for your toolbox. also clecos the wing nut or fancy no-mar kind are worth their weight in gold for temporary mockups.
