I cant overstate how important this album is to me. It was there when I was a teen with my first longterm girlfriend, my long/late/early journeys home, my gifts to friends.. every random significant and insignificant moment. This album was always there. It's part of my DNA literally. But then, so are the 2 bonus tracks, 'shame' and 'when I want'. Thats the whole complete journey home. Yknow a lot of bands that have strained or emotional singing, can flub sometimes in the live performance. Sometimes the album was just lightning in a bottle that's hard to replicate. But you can tell here he really is just that good of a singer and that consistent.

The year was 2001, I was 12 years old, my older cousin was busting The Middle as loud as it could go on his Sony HiFi system, that was the day I was introduced to Jimmy Eat World, ever since I have been a huge fan. Being introduced to them with Bleed American was priceless, Futures is amazing too, every single song they have written reminds me of that specific time in my life and my own story attached to it like many will say too. 23 is the ultimate song, I have a plethora of precious moments and memories attached to that song, many good, many bad, but at the end of the day it is very special to me. I have learnt many lessons in my life while listening to all of these, and of course all the other albums too. Man I wish I could see them live. Love, from the east coast of South Africa.
