I was buying a car in 2002. I had to get an appraisal on my current car for a trade in. This CD played in my car. While the dealership employee came around, they heard "Just Watch the Fireworks" and said "who is this? it's great!". Seeing someone else appreciate, for the first time, the song that you've loved and heard a thousand times, is strange, fun, and I'd recommend it to everyone. I got to do it with this album.

Today is 12.23… to commemorate I’m listening to the band whose music influenced my walk this year (2024) all day. To the countless hours this concert alone has joined me as I researched and wrote my novel has been insurmountable and shout out to the podcast that inspired my musical pursuits. I am probably just some crazy fan to you, this band, but I can’t get over how magical my year has been and I have you guys to thank for all of it and then some!! My quest for change began with 555 in 2019. Then Place Your Debts challenged those changes. Took notes throughout your podcast episodes & Phoenix sessions, specifically, Clarity and Futures, helped me to see a way forward. Always remember if you end up reading this and I am inevitably not blocked lol that you guys saved a woman’s life who nearly took her own. You helped me see that there was a spark inside of me that needed recognition.

I got pretty emotional watching this. I went to Italy when I was 16 with my nonno. We visited his hometown for 3 weeks when he was 86. I had an Sony minidisc player and this was the only album I had loaded for 3 weeks. I listened to it on repeat since I was too young and stupid to embrace the language and spent alot of time indoors. However, It reminds me of happy times when I was with my grandfather. I am now 37 and this album always stays close to my heart.

@@fivestatedrive increeeeeeeedibly late reply, but I remember seeing in an interview somewhere that they said they had three sessions planned, and wanted to do Surviving, as it was the newest release and their first real opportunity to show it off 'live', they wanted to do Clarity as it was a fan favourite, and then they picked Futures as it was something a bit different that they hadn't performed all that much in recent years (obviously since then they've done a lot of Futures as part of the 20th anniversary stuff). I'm hopeful that at some point in the future we might get another set of these - Bleed American, Chase This Light and Static Prevails would be great!

This whole performance sounds amazing. I know every single word to this entire album. It's truly a masterpiece. Been listening since the Static Prevails days and I was lucky enough to see them shortly after Clarity came out. I'll never forget the hypnotic intensity of them closing with Goodbye Sky Harbor. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

I didn't grow up listening to Jimmy Eat World or this record; but, as a latecomer, this album definitely became one of my favorites. Love its visceral nature. It's one of those records that I keep liking more after another listen, despite a hundred listen throughs at this point Heard you guys are looking to tour with The Killers. Hope that turns out well!

I was lucky enough to see them many times, but especially on the Clarity X 10 Tour at the Troc in Philly. 2009. Played the album in order, start to finish, then a short encore. Would love to live that day over again.

@@Mystic-Midnight I don’t blame the band. I think most people would agree that Clarity and Futures are their best work. I personally love Clarity because I think it’s one of the best emo albums of all time, but futures is great as well. My guess is that they chose these two albums because of that reason, and they followed up with surviving bc that was their most recent work. I wish more bands would do what JEW is doing, but I also understand the fans that want to see them cover Bleed.

@@jmentone Yeah, listening to the Futures session now and forgot just how magical that album was. Really I love all of their albums but who knows maybe 2021 we could get some more of their older albums like this.

I love the backing vocals of Robin Vining. Such a beautiful compliment to songs that I didn't think could be any better than they started out as. There isn't much that hasn't already been said about the legacy of Clarity, so I won't attempt to add to it. What I will say is that it is so very rare to get to experience the albums from the past that we love so deeply, delivered back to us years later in a format like this. Thank you guys for doing it.
