Here is a rare treat for my fellow Broadway fans. This is the KEEP IT GAY number from the Broadway Smash Hit THE PRODUCERS that was filmed in 2001 in Chicago before the show came to Broadway in New York City! For those who missed the oppurtunity to see the Original Cast On Broadway, here you go. Enjoy this rare clip. : )

You do basically get everyone from this scene in the movie version they made for this. The only two big casting changes from stage to screen where the Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman roles; everyone else in the film is who you saw on Broadway.

At the end of the recent online reunion of the cast members of "The Producers," Matthew Broderick mentioned that despite the cast's reluctance to be filmed while performing (not to mention the copyright violations involved), they had to admit that they were very grateful to be able to see the show from the audience's point of view.

I once met and talked to Jay Binder (big Broadway casting agent, look him up) and he says the original cast of The Producers was the greatest and funniest show he'd ever seen on Broadway. He said you could easily add 30 minutes to the run time just to make up for the amount of pauses in the show to account for the audiences hysteric laughter and cheering. Nothing like it since and no other cast could quite match the magic and chemistry of this original cast.
