I've always considered myself fluent in English but it feels like everytime I hear an Alanis Morissette song or watch an interview of her, I am learning new words I didn't even know existed. She is more well spoken than most celebrities and singers and that's really saying something.

I honestly would not have recognized her if they didn't say who she was. She's always had a very iconic look and I don't think it's rude to discuss the change. Especially since only those of us who love her music would probably be the ones to comment just because we're so familiar with her.
@mariodriessen97403 жыл бұрын
@Kelly Cote ; That was basically my first thought when I saw this interview. To be fair, I don't think I've seen much of her since '98 or '99, although I do recall having seen her a couple of years back when she was doing another interview. No wait, that wasn't even that long ago. I remember now. She sang a song on a daily and very popular Dutch television program. I loved it! It was another Alanis (musically I mean), but absolutely great and absolutely her. Yes, she changed (duh, she was 20 years older than when I last saw her), but it was undeniably Alanis Morissette. But after this video I almost felt a little alienated. She's still beautiful. And if she wouldn't still be beautiful I wouldn't care. I love her because of her music. But I thought the exact same thing that you wrote. If she would have passed me by yesterday, in the middle of the sidewalk and we would have made eye contact, I don't think I would've recognized her for a moment. I was fascinated when I saw this video. I just can’t figure out what it is why I can’t recognize her this way. Could it be her hair? That would be silly. What is it?!?! I know this is totally irrelevant and I don’t even understand why I even bother to react on this. This is not something I do a lot. Maybe it fascinates me because I changed so much in such a short period of time that people who have been really close to me just didn’t recognize me at all when I’d meet them. People who were glad to see mee only two years earlier. It was actually quite painful. I’m literally stunned. Well, maybe I’m exaggerating a little. No I’m not. Sorry. 🤷🏻♂️

@cherylcarlson33153 жыл бұрын
@@a.taylor8294 yes, I think most of the stupid I have met can be remediated by revisiting subjects away from bad schools. Teaching a kid is the greatest motivation to learn something. Most public schooled people have a very low reading level
@cherylcarlson33153 жыл бұрын
@@a.taylor8294 in pandemic parents are having to spend time with kids. Most"stupid" people are low literacy, public schooled. Unschooling is not doing nothing but child led which also gives parents chance to remediate. I encouraged NICU parents to read baby books to infants knowing baby benefits from voice and parent barely read. By discharge one mom was reading steamy romances another wrote full sentences expressively in baby book.4 yrs of reading level improvement in about 70 days. My kids were read to from birth,read on their own at 4, were interested in music by 6, interested in foreign language by 8. One is great at math in his head, dd isn't but is great at art. Both are highly adaptive, accepting of error, persistent in asking questions. I had days I could spend little time with them but found public schools waste a huge amount of time so my "short" days actually we're more instructive, productive, interactive than school. Most important thing for anyone is to learn how to question, research,try..at any age
@a.taylor82943 жыл бұрын
@@cherylcarlson3315, the benefits you've noted still require parents who have the time and ability to teach their children. There are many working class parents who simply can't do that adequately . Say, "essential workers" who get paid crappily like grocery store staff and thus must work more than 40 hours, still outside the home. Or what about children who are first-generation Americans and have parents who don't speak English? Homeschooling is not a blanket solution for poor schooling. Our communities and governments need to make proper education a priority for all youth.
