I like how David Wallace doesn't get mad at Phyllis when she criticized him for not returning Michael's calls, because he does seem to genuinely regret that

The one thing I love about the negotiating scene is when Michael starts going off you can see Ryan and Pam come to the realization of what’s happening and they just slowly turn and watch him in awe.

Best part Michael gets to tell off Charles with the same line: “No, nope. You’re done.” 😂

One of my favorite episodes, love seeing Charles comeuppance and Michael actually have a win. Glad you were just as satisfied with both storylines lol. Also “how the turntables” is great

Michael's moment of brilliance! So rare and so satisfying. I love that Michael rejected Dwight's finger point. He's such a kiss ass. Rainn Wilson has said that Dwight has this child-like obsession with hierarchy. Not surprising.

The most shockingly competent moment of Michael's life! (Excepting some actions regarding Holly.)

All those pranks were Jim training for this day. Love how fast Charles’ competence reveals itself as an automated corporate facade when the office starts playing by the Office’s script.

I have zero respect for Charles. He absolutely loved people kissing his ass a few episodes ago, and he absolutely loves kissing his boss's ass. He is a clueless, uninspiring, unfunny corporate loser.

The van is classic. I actually saw someone who painted a van exactly like it driving around East Texas. No idea who the owners are, but they're welcome at my bbq anytime.

Jimmy, when you started with Season 1, Episode 1 - I quietly thought to myself about how much you would enjoy this episode once it came up. This was a rewarding watch for sure.

I know some people dont like Charles but I do. It shows how you can be as business savy as you want to be, but to be a manager, you have to know THE BUSINESS and the people in it! 1 of the most (if not the most) satisfying Michael moments in the show.

The office is really impressive with just how many seasons it has of great episodes. It does eventually fall off, but you still have multiple seasons to go before the decline.
@williammccormick984
@williammccormick984 Жыл бұрын
Decline happened as soon as Steve Carell leaves. So basically two more seasons before The Office boils over.
@leonlinton634

I personally think the decline starts mid-season 6, around the time Sabre comes in - but it's not until season 8 that it gets really bad.

I didn’t think the last seasons were that bad. There were some frustrating characters and unnecessary episodes, but I feel like it just goes from really, really good to just sort of mid. It’s still a decent show.

"Well well well.....how the turn tables." Forever immortalized Michael's inner Logan Roy when it comes to business makes it appearence right here. Michael talks a 60g buyout on a failing company into a multimillion dollar buyout. Michael Scott is a Killer,and Dwight is the Kendall to Michael Scotts Logan Roy....never forget that. Something Succession taught me is the deal is never done until the deal is done. So many variables could come into play that alter the deal in a significant manner.

3:39 If he had just ceased taking on any new clients until he was well into the black, then his company would have ceased growing, and would have not developed more expensive costs. Then when his business had a reasonable amount of liquid capitol saved up, they could go through a "growth spurt" and upgrade. At least I think so 🤔.

Could this have been considered the series finale? That could have the final shot with Michael having his leg up…Everyone was in frame except Pam, Ryan, Kelly and Toby. No nostalgia, no reminiscing, no one acting out of character- just the end of the story.

You skipped the "Our company is worth _nothing."_ moment! I swear it felt like about a 10 second pause after he said that sentence even though it was more like 3/4 of one haha. Brilliant line for Michael Scott.

It’s the greatest mini-arc ever and it could’ve been a movie….it’s the the reason seasons three and five are my faves….i SOOO I didn’t want to say *even that* just six episodes ago cuz I’m a good guy and that would’ve spoiled it to my mind….i, and I think everyone else, wanted no spoilers, because an arc kinda implies something, I think, , idk, im tired……god, it was hard not to say that to tho, “mini-arc”……anyway, some office fans will just binge Michael Scott paper company like it is a little movie, …god, I love this show.

Dunder Mifflin fucked up a good thing. For all of his fault Michael Scott ran the most profitable branch. Dwight is not going anywhere because he's his #2 and Jim is tied to Pam. Him might slack off, but he still makes a good deal of sales. After all, he signed Blue Cross who was said to be their biggest client at that time.

There's a part of me that is outraged at Jim, because if Dunder Mifflin were a nation, he is 100% guilty of treason. I genuinely don't know if he broke any laws by sharing confidential negotiating information with a competing company. But it was all for love! (And also a petty rivalry with the mayor.)

The trio never realized that what the Korean Lady _really_ wanted was to join them, she wanted the Michael Scott Paper company to hire her. She thought displaying that kind of determination was something Michael Scott would appreciate. But, being Korean she was kind of stolid and reserved so she didn't make it clear to them what she wanted. 😞

I love this episode, but Charles never gets his comeuppance. In this episode he just leaves without getting to say goodbye, he gets to come back for the company picnic, and then is presumably fired when Sabre buys the company. The man deserved the Ed Truck treatment or to be seen on the streets homeless with meth mouth. Instead, he gets to just move on to his next job. There is no justice. Absolutely the most hatable character in the series and there’s zero payoff.

David and Jan's competencies are sacrifices on the altar of The Show Must Go On. I could buy that maaybe a buyout was justified, but not just completely folding on ludicrous terms. To be fair, "a multimillion dollar buyout" isn't quite a fair comparison to the first offer - you're getting employees with that figure, not just clients. And Michael really does get shit done. (Pam...hm. We'll see...)

I wish they went the David vs Goliath route. Im fine with how the show continued, but I think it would have been really cool for the show turn into a thing where Michael's business grows and he slowly starts taking more an more employees from Dunder Mifflin to the MIchael Scott paper company. Maybe at some point result in David Wallce working for him.
