They condemn making fun of things like appearances when it suits their narrative, but the second that someone does something wrong, it is suddenly open season to say some of the meanest things you've ever heard about that person's appearance. And while I don't think I've seen Nick do it, I've seen supposed leftists misgender transphobes in an attempt to "own them", as though that doesn't just reinforce the idea that having one's gender respected is something to be earned, and not just basic human decency. And that doesn't even touch on how lazy it is. Rather than putting in even the slightest effort to dig into that person's behaviour and beliefs, they can just rely on their audience to recognize that the person has done something bad and make personal insults instead.

Another part that I don't think you've talked about yet is the way he talked about the Rosanna and Mr. Beast situation (the one he sneaked the apology video into), he said 99% of people wouldn't know who she is, and that she's clout chasing. Like, their worst crime other than a couple of clunky comments was being ‘cringe’, but they weren’t hurting anyone, they’d clearly put in a ton of time, research and passion into their performances, and they were having fun as well as being respectful of the culture. I realized how much of a bully he was then, so while your first video surprised me in some ways, it also really didn’t in others. If anybody wants another example of Nick's poor reporting destroying people's careers/mental health, check out Ashley Gavin talking about her situation. She doesnt address Nick but his videos on her had a massive reach and nobody would care otherwise. She was doxxed, her loved ones were threatened and even had metal detectors at her shows. She js only just now talking about how damaging it was. The videos only cover limited information with skewed context. It was, at the most, an unfortunate miscommunication between her and an audience member that Ashley tried to rectify immediately and multiple times. But Nick's viewers have no way of knowing that based on his lazy reporting. She goes into detail in her chosen family podcast. If Nick was truly interested in being a good reporter, he would have carried on making videos on the situation as it became clearer that the accusations were wrong. But he didn't because it's more important to get clicks and create a villain. It will always be about riling up negativity for him. Its so messed up and it breeds black and white thinking. I used to enjoy his stuff but its just bums me out now.

I knew I couldn’t watch Nick anymore when I saw how insanely giddy he was at the Colleen apology video. I know a lot of people laughed at it but it was continuously saying what amazing content this is going to be that just grossed me out. You could just see the dollar signs in his eyes. To act that way as someone who has pretended to be this super moral, upstanding progressive person it felt so gross. Not to mention the way he seemed to think by adding a hundred qualifiers before every statement it would somehow make it ok for him to do and say whatever. It’s fine to make sure that know you aren’t trying to be deliberately offensive but what he was doing just felt extremely performative. And then the way people like him and especially Ethan talk about people who done something wrong in their minds then all rules are able to be thrown out the window and they bully them as much as they want. That is just using these issues as an excuse to bully people. I stopped watching Ethan after his review of Shane Dawson’s podcast. It’s fine not to like Shane for his past but that doesn’t give you the right to relentlessly bully him and his friends for every little thing they do or say especially when it’s so unrelated to what he was even cancelled for. The mean spirited of those two had been bothering me for a while and the super mega stuff and your last video explained everything that I had been feeling. I didn’t realize I hadn’t actually unsubbed to those two yet but I made sure I did after watching your video so yeah I would say it probably is what did it. You helped prove this wasn’t a one time mistake with aftermath that was handled poorly but also part of a bigger issue of these people just being like the mean girls or plastics of KZbin

i watched that video and was a bit alarmed at how excited he was. and not only that but instead if doing everything in an organized manner, to me it seemed to be that he'd pick a topic around the video to talk about, and then jump to something else, then jump back to the big topic, and it was all over the place for me, i couldnt keep up
@frostykzink Жыл бұрын
My read on this is that both Nick and Ethan have a very similar type of toxic mindset and in retrospect it was a matter of time before they turned on each other. They both think they're amazing people doing such great liberal or progressive work and it leads them to be bullies who will dish it out but cannot take it. Their "commentary" always sounds similar and they both always make mean comments but it's okay because they're dunking on bad people and whatever whatever. People like that who are always looking for a way to put others down don't stick together for long. They can't. Nick throwing Ethan and Lex under the bus is a clear example of this, and Ethan's whole tantrum last week is another example, especially with him blindly and blatantly ignoring all the inconsistencies in his own comments. They can't admit they did anything wrong because they're bullies that can't let someone else "win."

As a long-time fan of SuperMegas and former watcher of Nicks content I just really want to thank you for keeping Nick accountable during this dumpsterfire. When Matt and Ryan dropped their response video there was an eerie quiet and kind of a collective acceptance that they tried to handle Lex's situation with respect but didn't really know how to, so everybody calmed down but nobody really held Nick, Leighton and Ethan accountable for causing Matt and Ryan so much hurt for bringing Daniel into this. When I watched Nicks first video I thought it was so strange for him to bring this up (even if Lex had mentioned it) considering he knows absolutely nothing about Matt, Ryans and Daniels relationship. I think if Lex, Nick etc. were around like I was when they delivered the tragic news about Daniel, they would've never even dared to bring this up because of how heart wrenching his death was. I feel horrible for Matt and especially Ryan that had to once again bring up such a horrible event. So truly, thank you for doing the work you do and keeping up with this situation that most channels don't even care about anymore because the "drama" has seemingly settled with SuperMegas indefinite hiatus.

I totally get Lex changing her opinion on the situation and her current attempts the clear things up, though that will likely come later. When you're in such a vulnerable state and someone with a large platform starts defending you and calling out what you at the time percieve as a cover up of your assult, you'll probably initially be thankful. But as time passes, the ways in which we view supposed acts of kindness change. Lex's initial lambastment of SuperMega could have something to do with the general paranoia many SA victims experience. It was wrong what she said and did but considering her situation it's understandable and I don't believe she did it out of revenge or money but liely her genuine feelings at the time. I've been there with my own trauma and know how it feels. I have no idea what the fuck is going on with Ethan though. He's usually high on streams so take most things he says with a grain of salt.

15:22 “Like I honestly just feel bad for these people” I don’t. I feel bad for Lex. Even that’s a stretch. She spent 70-80% of her original video talking about how shitty SuperMega was (I.e: things that had nothing to do with her SA) and then the other 20-30% talking about what allegedly happened to her. Everyone else (Nick and Ethan, and Nick’s gf) are terrible people.
@ojaimark Жыл бұрын
This whole situation boils down to inevitable crumbling of platforms built on virtue signaling. At the end of the day Nick's progressivism and moral positioning was never actually authentic and he never really believed the things he was saying. He just knew they were the right things to say. It's great to superficially pretend to be an ally to some kind of cause/movement because it can be an easy way to gain clout. The problem is that doing so is going out on a limb with no genuine foundation to support you. When things are calm and there's no controversy, it's all good. But once some shit starts hitting the fan you don't have any authentic morals and principles to stand on anymore and you're gonna fall. It's gonna be damn near impossible to respond in a way that doesn't immediately expose the true you and come across as pure damage control.

Honestly, I had no idea about the SuperMega stuff...personally I stopped consuming his content because it went from commentary videos to videos of him taking about gossip and making fun of others. It truly leaves a bitter taste...he comes off as quite arrogant lately. I hope he notices it and changes from here on. Thank you for your video

Great videos! I found you bc of the Nick controversy, but stayed because you have very thoughtful insights about the situation. Thanks for all of your hard work!

"This whole thing is just a mess." And that's why serious personal problems shouldn't be broadcast to the world instead of dealt with privately.

I believe the reason that he’s losing subs due to your video is Most likely because it was well constructed, unbiased, contained enough context, and a lot of things that most of his viewers may never have known. As a past viewer of Nick, this was shocking and it made me think about who I’m hearing information from and will seek to see any red flags that’ll emerge.

Honestly nick is just running a predictable pattern to avoid criticism now that it's affecting his income; - These people are bad, not me - I did some things that might be considered bad, but it was morally justified - Okay, it was bad, but they were worse so that makes me good by proxy, right?! - I have the facts, i was there, I saw it - Okay, so i didnt see it see it, it was a close friend! Can you blame me for getting emotionally charged over a friend! - Well less of a close friend really more like a coworker - Well less of a coworker and more a co worker of a friend

Your video came up top of the algorithm about Nick for me (it's how I found your channel) and I've since seen it cited by a few big creators, so I 100% believe your video had an impact. It was also really well done which helped a lot obv.

Idk, Dev was laughing along with Nick at a girl receiving death and rape threats. I don't feel all too bad for her, just sucks since her music is good.

His behavior is truly a bummer, I found Nick through him being a guest on hivemind and became a casual watcher of his channel and a big fan of Dev Lemon’s music. Makes me wonder if this incident is why he hasn’t been on hivemind in a good minute.

This is definitely like… a very minor criticism compared to everything that’s going on, but I watched Nick a little bit around when his channel was getting larger (KZbin kept putting him in my recommended feed and I had nothing else to watch), and I recall him saying a lot of stuff about how thrilled he was that the channel was taking off, and how happy he was to make videos every day, and all of that. It makes it feel a bit weird that he’s acting like the entire year was TERRIBLE for him and he HATED it, in my opinion…? He said a lot of stuff about how this year was totally his channels peak and whatever. So it’s odd that now he’s going on about how “maybe next year will be his year :/“

this is a good follow up! idk if you’ll even see this but I am the mod from the sub, you got one thing wrong which is nick did delete his original reddit account, on my end it said user deleted the only person that was there was nicks brother austin n he didn’t use his account. I locked the sub bc it was being spammed and posts being reported daily n it got frustrating being the only mod, all i saw for the most part was posts that didn’t add anything to the situation. But i didn’t really think about people using the sub for video evidence stuff. but i’m currently trying to fix things.

I have just watched this video and, i dont watch nick nor super mega, but nick using Daniel's situation was f-ed up. I remembered when that happened when matt and ryan were running the channel cyndago, not super mega, and when they were working with markiplier. Disgusting behavior from nick
