Zhou Shen's voice hardly changed during puberty and people were making fun of him. He has faced a lot of discrimination and had to overcome many obstacles to get to where he is now. Today, he is one of the most popular singers in China. The song "Upwards to the Moon" was written and originally performed by Sa Dingding and it is the theme song of the Chinese drama "Ashes of Love". Well yo,understand, everyone has their preference. Charlie Zhou Shen has a natural narrow voice, puberty did not change a lot on him, so basically he is still more close to a child voice. He‘s not fall into a regular male voice, So, many people found hard to accept him at first sight. But if you jump out the ordinary box of male and female should sound like, and just see, Is this a beautiful voice? ​@@yuanyuanzi5834You are quite right, Yuan. To each his own. Eddie Kendrick of The Temptations fame and Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers, had high pitched male voices and I loved their music. Possibly not the voices as much as the soulful tunes along with the vocals. Perhaps for me if the high pitch voices came with great music rather than female pitch for the sake of showing off then I would be more accepting of the skill.

This show was 3.5 years ago, the female singer SaDingDing is the song writer, she wrote this song for herself to sing, actually there is not too many people can sing with her at these high pitch ranges, but Charlie Zhou Shen. He was just starting blooming on his career then. Now, Charlie is the number 1 singer in China. He has more then 200 original songs. he sang the Chinese Version of theme songs for the movies : The Shape of Water, The Upside, Disney Luca, Suzume’s Locking Up, Disney I am a Star. Many different styles (types) of singing and multilingual. His natural voice is in higher range, he trained in Lviv, Ukraine to learn Bel Canto to use the vocal lower range. What I try to say here is, Charlie did not use female pitch to show off skill, that is the way he is. Perhaps, may be after you heard more of Charlie’s songs then you may feel differently. All is well! At Charlie Zhou Shen North America Fan Club have many of his songs with English Lyrics, if you are interested.
