Tbh this is just a internet Boston cream filled to the brim. I wish you two best of luck in your lives and hay if you end up got time and still able maybe try the running once more. I know one thing from my short existance as of now. Try to keep things going even if it's basic. As I for example own a game that is a gem of a broken mess, but I love it regardless. Infact I may just try to put all I can I to playing it because it's got a charm you can't find with out pirating the thing. Plus being on the cusp of a big thing is always a feeling to remember and think on. Leading a path is something, but blazing the thing and setting it for others is a beast I won't be able to do but can hope to try.

Now when you say slap landings, you mean the ones where your just hitting the ground with your whole foot? Because when I use the term slap landings. I'm referring to the kind where your drop is far to high to take with just your legs. So you distribute the force across your body more by doing a sort of slapping motion to the ground. Because once you reach a certain height. You have no other option but to do the landing type I just described.

As someone who has been around the track and field scene, people always ask "what is the point of the triple jump?" "Why is this random, specific technique a literal, track and field event?" -- Those people don't know who Phil Doyle is, because Phil Doyle has put the "hop, skip and jump," into real life context better than anyone ever. I agree with Jimmy that Phil Doyle is one of the greatest athletes of all time. Someone should make a side by side of Olympic track and field long jump and triple jumps with guys like Philly D doing it in real life because here's the big thing: these criminally unrecognized parkour legends are doing world class athletic feats with consequential precision. Which makes it way more impressive than a danger free jump in track and field context, especially since guys like Phil can jump nearly as far.

Just been sent this video by a friend from the scene in the day. Thank you for the walk down memory lane! Phil trained with us from a crazy young age, not going to lie, was a pretty annoying kid at times 😆 Damn, his skill departed from us quickly, to be truthful, I personally didn’t see it in him originally at the very start but it didn’t take long for him to take off! Defo more credit goes to Philly D for the impact of ‘touch’, we tried haha, but he took it to another level! But he’s too humble to take the credit anyways!

Teghead and Blane were probably the most influential guys for me. Blane in particular seemed to have been ahead of his time back in the day when it came to control; most notably seen with his fast climb-ups and the muscle-ups he did on tree branches lol. I also don't know how much influence Teghead had in the grand scheme of things. A young Toby Segar was featured in a few of his vids so I've always wondered if teg was sort of like a mentor to him.

Have to say thought hard to hear a discussion of the history of touch in parkour without a Mention of Stephane Vigroux who was the first person I ever heard taking about and how was leagues ahead so early. Also Chris Blane Rowat deserves a mention in the development of the pre and the idea of power without controll. Be a fun video project the history of touch in parkour.

The concept of touch exists in the guitar world. I see parallels between Phil's barefoot training before sneakers and learning the acoustic guitar before the electric guitar. The same way you have just your fingers the barefoot leaves you with nothing but natural touch. So when you take the next step you have that foundation of what you can do with your touch and now you build on it.
