I have a 1974 DT 100a from back in the day. You have inspired me to make it run. I will let you know when mission accomplished. Thanks for video.

Well this gave me a boost of confidence. I got a rebuilt 72 Suzuki Prospector i got about 4 years ago. since i was a little girl ive always wanted a dirt bike but the day never came until my 30s. I finally got it but i had no idea how to maintain these things. I dont have any friends who ride dirt bikes and everyone i know who has motorcylces cant help me. I use to be a mechanic and love working on things but this overwhelms me cause i didnt have a clue where to begin. I think i can wing it after seeing your video 😁 I also discovered a tool bag on my bike too but sadly no tools 😅 Great Video 👍🏽

Just what I needed. I have a 72 175. Hasn’t run in years. It ran ok last time in 2003 but would just stop once I got around the block. May have to try it again, was a fun bike.

I had a 1975 DT100 back then and it was a lot of fun riding on the tank trails on the military base I lived next to. It was stolen 11 months after I got it.

Love the bike! I had an ‘81 DT100, and it was a blast, I put over 1500miles on it riding it around college! Hope you enjoyed the bike!

Hello Jimmy. This video is wonderful. I never knew that Yamaha produced the 100cc Enduro so early as 1972. Upon checking there was even a previous model, the LT1. It figures...........LT1 100cc. AT1 125cc. CT1 175cc, DT1 250cc and years later RT1 360cc. The first letter in the model/Chassis number would tell the engine displacement. ( Yamaha used that first letter on their street bikes too. The L1 or YL1 was a 2 cyl.100cc. the AS1 or YAS1 was a 2 cyl.125cc, the YDS1 or DS1 was a 2-cyl. 250cc and the R3 was their 2-cyl. 350cc. The second letter S meant street.) The second letter on the trail bikes, 'T' meant it was a "Trail" bike. Years later ALL the two-stroke Enduro/Trail bikes would be described as DT, hence DT100, DT175, DT250, DT400. I lost track of all of that as the years passed. I am 66, and my first bike was the first 175cc Trail that Yamaha made the CT1. I certainly have fond memories of that bike. That model carried no indicators.(As of January 2022, the local Yamaha dealer in my country still sells the DT175 2-Stroke Enduro !) I am glad that you have this bike, the essence of simplicity and functionality. Aside from adjusting the points, I am sure it can go on for many thousands of miles ! Enjoy & respect. Mom bought me one of these new in 72 when I was 13. Had a yamaha 60 before that. Lived in Santa Fe so finding desert was no problem. I think new it wouldn't do 60. Definately took a beating.

Right on! I learn how to ride on a Z50. But moved up to a YZ 125 A, it needed the crank replaced. So I learned how to split the case, before I learned how to ride a "full sized" bike. It was points too, but my older brother put it to ATDC instead of BTDC. My first start on it resulted in a OUTBURN & DUMP. I was ready for fwd, not reverse!

I'd ride my 72 dt 100 with my buddy who had a yz 80. That thing smoked this bike!😂! But one day he was whipping down a trial he didn't know there was a ditch that u had to roll into and gas it out... he hit it at 45 50? He flew over the hight of a telephone pole split his helmet in 2. He had amnesia for 3 weeks!.... but bikes are fun! 😅

Great video! What fuel to oil ratio do you use for your premix gas? I have a 1975 DT125 I plan to work on and don’t trust the old oil pump either.

Hi, my Yamaha Mr50 doesn't want to start. it has good spark new carburator but maybe the compression is too low it's been standing for about 4 years without riding it. Can't remember what oversize piston is in it. What should compression be? For a 50cc ? Thank you

How's the power compare with your xt250? A two stroke is usually nearly double the power of a 4-stroke, correct?

What oil and fuel mixture did you use I have one I'm restoring and I can figure out the oil and fuel mixture. My oil pump doesn't work so I'm hoping to mix fuel till I get a new one.
@ramishrambarran39982 жыл бұрын
Use 30:1 initially to be safe.( Remember when coasting downhill for long distances the engine is turning, but no fuel is fed into the engine......hence no lubrication.) Try and get the oil pump as soon as you can. Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies.
