Jim, great demo of using all the masks. Surprised me at 12:40 on Layer 6 when you added the Vignette with Brush mask to the same Radial mask layer where you added the burst of exposure. Thought sure we would add a Layer 7 for the Vignette.
@JimNix4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jer. That burst of exposure on Layer 6 was done with a radial mask on the Light filter, not on the entire layer. So I could still add the Vignette and it would apply across the whole photo. Make sense?
@jer30064 жыл бұрын
@@JimNix Makes sense, thanks. Masks are unique to the Filter set, not the Layer. Got to remember that! 😄

Helped me immensely. Had a wonderful image of an old Asian man in typical garb riding a bike. Taken in 2009 with my Canon G6 camera. Totally sharp, but the face needed lightening. Thank you Luminar face lightening.

So the red area of the mask designates the area to which the adjustment is being applied? The difference between the original and the finished image is amazing.

Hi Jim, An opinion: whilst appreciating that this is about different mask uses, there is a diagonal area of light that can take the view in to the yellow building or outward to the bicycle by the whitish wall, the bike has highlights. So once noticed could become the focal point, as in my opinion once registered is difficult to look elsewhere. If the photo was cropped to avoid the bike and wall, then the focal point seems to return to the yellow wall. Your skilful expertise with masking is really helpful in showing how they work and that they can all share the same posting. Thanks and regards.

Thanks for another great tutorial on masks. After watching this video, I tried an inverted luminosity mask in my Comet Neowise Astro-Landscape photo to Denoise the sky but maintain the stars. I found you have to poke holes (erase) in the mask for the dimmer stars to keep them, too. Thanks for all you do to educate us in Luminar and in what it takes to make a photo better.

I’m still having freeze up problems when doing several layers of edits or sometimes heavy edits on one layer when I try to export a photo. I’m using a basic iMac. Probably doesn’t have the processing power your computer has. Hopefully the next update of Luminar will rectify the problem.

Jim, hi mate. Look, I’m sorry to hijack this mask video - but I need to ask a question. If I’ve edited an image, and I’m happy with it - but I want to overlay a texture of folded paper - to make it look like a poster (portrait or landscape) can I use Luminar to achieve that look easily? Have you done something like that before and I’ve missed it perhaps? Thanks mate. Hope you’re well.
@JimNix4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate and good question. Yes you can add a texture on top of your edited photo, really easily in fact. Here is a video I did about the Texture Overlay tool: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyygX-od85_pZY and hope that helps!

Like the final image...very colorful. Know its a street scene but IMHO I would have removed the trash from the street in the foreground. Very distracting. I know has nothing to do with gradient masking as you were demonstrating. Especially the left one that looks like a banana peel.
