Thanks you for the reminder Jim. I think we’re all guilty of rushing in our photo edit. I guess sometimes if we just slow down and enjoy the journey of the edit, we’ll end up learning more and resulting in a better photo.

Love it Jim! What NOT to do is nearly as important as what you should do. But if asked what's their goal for the photo, many people would just say, "I want this photo to pop more". And the answer to that would be: "Watch all of Jim's other Neo videos". 😄

New Neo user here. Extremely helpful video, thanks! But just as a side comment, it starts to look a lot like Photoshop when you advise us to dig in. I thought this was supposed to be a one slider editor! I guess there's no such thing as a free lunch. Thanks again, very helpful.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching and Neo can totally be a single slider sort of thing - and it can work great like that, too - but of course a lot of folks want more control over the final outcome, in which case you can dig in a little and take control if you want to, but it's optional - lots of power and control in Neo if you want it, and lots of AI single slider things if you don't 😁

Hi Jim, a positive way of avoiding such errors is to initially follow commentators like yourself to find out ways of processing for best results; I currently follow about 4 regular commentators for Luminar Neo; initially putting their uploads in publication date order, then checking each day for additions on new updates to Luminar Neo and commentators explanations of how to use new benefits. Once a grounding has been obtained, experimenting whilst bearing in mind the errors you have outlined brings in a fun element. My main suggestion is always work on a copy, not the original. Many thanks Jim for highlighting these 5 errors. Regards JB

Thanks for your videos. Teachers like you should remaind. from time to time, as you do, that "the tools" are only a way to achieve an objective, and we do not need to use every single tool each time. As you say we sholud look for the picture we want to have. Sorry for my english.

Thanks for the video. Just out of curiosity, where in your workflow do you suggest cropping? I usually crop first, before even develop, but I could be wrong.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete and thanks. I tend to crop first, but I think it's really personal preference. I know many folks like to crop at the end. But I feel like I already know what I want to crop like when I get started, so I do it first. I don't usually need to see the edit to make that decision. Thanks.
@phlotographer
@phlotographer 2 жыл бұрын
@@JimNix me too so that I only have to concern my edit with what I want to show. Once in awhile I might hit an image that I think looks nice and then after all is done decide that a bit tighter crop would work better. I give it a look and then decide if my eye was not seeing what looked the best and decide upon the final crop but generally, crop and straighten first -- actually better to straighten and then make the crop.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
@@phlotographer yep agreed, although once in a blue moon I change my crop at the end, but that's pretty rare - but for sure straighten first, then crop

Hi Jim; Marc from Houston again. I'm preparing some wall art with a new workflow and have a question. I've used Topaz Gigapixel AI to enlarge my image to 24" x 36" at 300 dpi (10800px x 7200px) and saved that as a DNG. I loaded the result into Luminar Neo and got a great set of edits. I exported to JPEG and got exactly what I wanted, however... How do I need to save/export to retain my edits if I want to re-edit (non-destructive) later in Neo? Any ideas?
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc and if you use the catalog in Luminar it will hold your edits for you. So maybe set up a folder for this stuff, add the pics to it, and edit from there. Thanks.
