I learned this one a couple weeks ago from here and it is quickly becoming my absolute favorite song to play. It just rolls off the fingers so nice and there is so much you can do with it! I had never even heard of it before this so thank you so much, Jim, for posting.

Love your videos, Jim........so glad you played the song beforehand in tempo. It makes learning the song much easier because you get that song in your head first. Like to see you do this more. As a fairly new banjo player I'm not that familiar with most of the tunes you play so playing them at the first is a great help. Must tell you that you are the one that got me started........so thank you so much for that! 😃

So I am getting involved with some Civil War Reinactment at the local Georgia State Parks and I was hoping to get a few lessons on Old Southern Civil War tunes.... But in 3 finger bluegrass style (Yeah, I know they didn't play it like that back then)... Especially Dixie but maybe a couple others as well.

I really don’t play any of those tunes. For the most part they just don’t lay out that well for bluegrass banjo and they never come up for me. You’ll be better served getting an early style banjo and learning the old stroke style banjo for those tunes - especially if you’re reinacting.

I really don’t do custom lessons like that. If you’ve really applied what I’ve taught in my lessons you should be able to figure out a break to pretty much anything.
