I am adding a correction to my video as the details provided are incorrect, and I should have noticed they conflict with the CPU limitations in place (comsumer supports at max 8x4x4). I can confirm that 2 nvme slots are 4x4, the other 2 are 3x2. This is a physical limitation of consumer chips (at present). PCIe4: Max speed ~7500MB/s PCIe3x2: Max speed ~2000MB/s

Did you figure out how to get the jellyfin docker to see volumes outside of the docker? I don't want to risk losing data by storing it in the docker container directory.

Using UGOS? No, I replaced it with Proxmox. As it's Debian under the hood you can mount your media to the host then reference to the container via a volume.

That's way overkill for a NAS, but if I was in the market for one this one would be top of my list.

I think it makes more sense as a homelab, you can't really take advantage of the nvme with 10Gb networking.

How do you know that the hardware transcoding is working? When it shows "Transcoding" it's automatically the hardware transcoding?

Yes, that only shows when using the GPU. You could also install intel-top to check GPU usage. CPU should be low whilst GPU will be high.

With how common it is these days, they should really have ghcr as an additional registry by default.

@@Myword02 I installed Proxmox in the end. Be sure to run as root from experience (which isn't great, but might have been fixed)

Jellyfin says system requirements are 8gigs of ram does it work well on 2?

@@pr11mus19 I'm not sure, I run in Kubernetes and Docker. Both of those containers typically use 2-6GB, depends on whether it's transcoding etc.

Hey, I had Proxmox running on it for a while - worked perfectly with iGPU passthrough.

Rather than trying to use their UI, why not try to connect through SSH and see if you can access the docker service directly? Or even with VScode with the usual extensions?

Why do you say under $500? That's the KS price, which is only available for 16 more days and just to Germany and the US. The device is actually tagged at $800. It's under that price that you should be reviewing this. C'mon!

The available markets are frustrating, I get that. However, if you're in those territories you can buy it for that price... It would be great if UGREEN provided a similar discount for a "global" launch, let's see.

And your review doesn't even mention this important factor that the price will go away in 2 weeks. It just doesn't feel right, coming from you. Frankly disappointed and will hold your advice to a lot more scrutiny from this day forward. It does make it look like you are shilling for the company. Their market team wouldn't change one sentence of your transcript.

@@Marfig I agree with you on that point. At $800 for future markets there are more competitive options available, but that's a future price point. We'll have to see what UGREEN does with their pricing startegy.

I get what your subs are saying, especially as we ie us in the UK can't get this on kick-start, only delivered to the US or Germany, I've just checked and that's still the case. So for UK (which I assume your subs are from) can't get this now, so I would prefer you did this when it's available in the UK.

@@try-that I appreciate the UK angle and that is something I have reflected in feedback. I have been told it'll be a broader release later in the year but time will tell. At least there are plenty of reviews to inform your decision unlike some of the early adopters (bizaarely most of my audience is US and DE according to YT stats).
