Jin Ling put out this tough boy persona to hide the fact that actually deep down, he is really just a child who misses his parents. Many pick on him and he was done running and so he decided to build this persona of 'idgf' so that people stay away from him. But when he met Wei Wuxian, things were different. He genuinely liked the guy and when he realised his Identity, he was manipulated by Jin Guangyao and instilled that hate for his parents' murderer. Even though he stabbed Wei Wuxian, it was out of confusion and impulse. Deep down he really regretted that but all the vent up emotions made him do that. He understood from spending time with wwx, when he didn't know his true identity, he really liked him and thought of him as someone he could approach. It's in the blood people, just like his uncle Jiang Cheng, he too is very good at hiding their true feelings. JL knows wwx really care about him and he care about him too but just like JC he won't expressly say it out. He use the disses to express his love. Wei Wuxian and Jin Ling in my opinion had one of the deepest bonds and understanding between the two. Wish I could see more interactions between them because it'd have been wholesome ♥️. That night at the temple when wei ying started talking about gusu sect's rules he suddenly asked why would you know their rules? wy said beacause I usually got punished I had to write their rules. He told him you're an embarrassment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it was so funny this kid. Actually I liked jin ling. His stubbornness was like his uncle and the way he behaved was just because he was so lonely, his elders filled his brain with hate and ego he didn't have someone like his mother to tell him how to behave. still being from the jin clan he was more decent than them. He rescued wei ying from his uncle to compensate for his own rescue, although he acted like he didn't liked him but he usually trusted him. Even after he stabbed wei ying with his sword you could see he was regretful at that cave it was like he wanted to say something to him but he didn't, he was even worried for him when he didn't came back when they were at the burial mountain. That moment when wei ying tought him how to fight back to bullies was very beautiful . Even at the last episode when his dog came to the that temple he brought it back as he knew wei ying is afraid of dogs and came back to find him but he was gone. I wish there was more jin ling- wei ying moments anyway he was yanli's son they could spend more time together.

By far my FAVORITE duckling out of our four mains! A-Ling deserves ALL the love and cuddles! He just needs someone to show him that it's OKAY to be soft...he doesn't HAVE to try and be tough all the time! All of that pain should NOT be bottled up in this sixteen-year-old child! He is a CHILD! Sixteen-years-old, and he holds SO much pain and anger! I just wanna wrap him up in my arms, shield him from the world, and never let him go...poor baby! I know he's a brat, but I feel he deserves SOME leeway on how he acts! He's spoiled and rude and bratty and stubborn, but he just needed someone to tell him it was all going to be alright! Notice how, after he became closer with our other ducklings(who he 100% refers to as his brothers when they aren't around) he sort of mellowed out a little...grew more into himself! He didn't have to be that scared, angry little insecure child who is teased and belittled and picked on...around them he is just...A-Ling! That's what I adore most about our juniors! They became each other's support and family! Also, I always like to say that, although he may look like his father, and he may be JC's little mini me down to the ever present scowl on his face, there is just the SLIGHTEST dash of the devil in him...and he gets that from the man he didn't grow up with but ended up forming a strong bond with! It breaks my heart that, had things been different, had Yanli lived, A-Ling would have grown up calling Wei "jiujiu"...instead, he didn't even get the chance! I like to think that, after everything was all said and done, JC allowed A-Ling to spend time with Wei...building the bond they have into something more! Idk...I just wish things were different! When I look at him, I see Peacock or JC, occasionally I even see Wei, but...those eyes of his? Maybe it's just me, but...I see Yanli in those eyes...it's in the way he sometimes falters...when he let's his guard down for just a SECOND, and I see her! She is ALL I see in those moments! My precious A-Ling...our spoiled rich brat! Also, quick A-Yi appreciation because only HE can beat A-Ling's sass, are we just...all in agreement that A-Yi is the most un-Lan Lan that has ever Lan'd in the HISTORY of Lans? He grew up in Gusu, WITH A-Yuan and ZWJ and Lan Qiren and LZ, abiding by the same boring rules, eating the same boring food, and yet...this boy is less Lan than ANY of them! He could pass for a Wei if I'm being honest! Or even a Jiang! How did they bring the most sassy boy into the Lan bloodline?! It just baffles me! But that's why I adore him! His sass is what gets me through life! He and A-Ling butting heads EVER waking moment gives me SO much serotonin!
