One of my favorite Christmas movies growing up. Shot in Minnesota. Parade was shot on a Hollywood set and renamed due to permission issues. Mickeys Diner: Open 24/7 for 80 years. Shut down in 2021 (Covid hurt business). They said they would open in 2022. Unknown if that happened. Diner was also in Mighty Ducks.

This is probably like the one Arnie movie where his being a mountain of a man doesn't inform his character, come into the plot, or necessitate he's a one-man army. He's just an ordinary suburban dad who happens to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. His handful of action scenes in this movie are entirely played for laughs, with Howard scraping by mostly by luck.
@marvelsandals4228 Жыл бұрын
It's surprising how a lighthearted Christmas themed comedy starring Arnold of all people manages to do some real world commentary on the insanity of rampant consumerism and ends with the kid choosing to selflessly give away the toy he wanted to the "villain" of the movie (who like the protagonist is just a parent desperate to please his child on Christmas). Is this a masterpiece? No, but it was pretty funny for what it was. Its harmless fun imo

What's so funny about this movie is how damned ACCURATE this was for the 90s and early 2000s. Seriously. Anything related to Pokemon or Furby or Tamagachi or heaven forbid Tickle Me Elmo was literally this level of insanity. My grandmother actually got into a damned fist fight over a Furby she bought for herself. A 50+ year old woman actually got into a hair pulling, kicking, screaming, knock-out punch fight with someone over a damn talking toy covered in cheap hair. For herself. I miss my grandma lol

Terribly underrated. Not many people like this movie to how ridiculous it is, but that's precisely what makes it hilarious! I grew up in Minneapolis, MN, very close to the Mall of America. I loved that mall when I was a kid, and the Camp Snoopy theme park in the basement was like Disneyland at home for me. One day in March of ‘96, my dad and I noticed that Camp Snoopy was decorated for Christmas for some reason, and there was a random piano set up as well. We asked around and learned that an Arnold Schwartzeneger movie had just wrapped up filming a few scenes. We didn’t get to meet any actors, but a woman said she had ridden next to Arnold on the elevator. She said he was quite rude and wouldn’t give her the time of day. Even though Dad and I missed all the action, the Mall of America scene is still my favorite because we got to see the movie set, so to speak.

Around the mid-1980s, there was an inexplicable series of postal workers, including mailmen and those working inside post offices, who went nuts and started shooting, stabbing, or otherwise killing their coworkers. It became such a thing for a couple of years that people started commonly saying that a person had gone "postal" if they exhibited any kind of unhinged behavior. I'm not sure when people stopped saying that, but they still were in the mid-1990s when this movie was made and released, and I'm sure this was a deliberate reference to the meme of a bunch of postal workers having "gone postal" a decade earlier. Myron being a mailman seems totally random to younger folks today, but it wasn't to people 10+ years older than you are. It was funny in and of itself (because tragedy + time = comedy, which I got from Mel Brooks).

Merry Christmas! This was in Minneapolis. Vkunia, this is the second time this season that I've watched a reaction to this. I used to have this on VHS somewhere. Sinbad and Arnold were great as polar opposites. I saw this in theaters and really enjoyed it. Little Anakin Skywalker, Tom Hank's wife Rita Wilson, and the late Phil Hartman were gems. It's Turbo time! Nice reaction. Other Christmas films I've suggested to a few other reactors: One Magic Christmas and A Mom For Christmas. Another Arnold film I suggest with Danny DeVito and Kelly Preston is Twins (1988). The Rocketeer is a must as well.
