It’s so funny bc for us that are into heavy progressive music those time signatures and strange song structures are orgasmic!!! This is exactly why we listen to this kind of music! I hear reaction videos trying to catch the rhythm and then they get frustrated it makes me laugh bc this kind of music is the anti-pop or dance music and it’s why we listen to it. Great reactions tho. Keep it up man.

Jinjer is controlled chaos. Controlled chaos makes you stop and listen. The drums don’t always lead. If you pay attention, when the drums seem off beat, the guitar, bass, or even vocals are keeping the time signature.

BINGO! I love that they shift that lead around too!

As I understand it, fans thought this song was about Tatiana... it was not. Eugene wrote it about someone else he'd know when he was young. Tatiana used two lines from this (Childhood of misery, Is lifelong injury) in "Retrospection" with clarifying lines following. If you react to "Retrospection" it's one of the few I'd suggest the official video for, or better yet a double feature if you're up for it.

Yeah, the official video is an absolute must for this song. The one live in Melbourne is good too though.

This makes most sense to me as a jazz piece, but with metal. It's a sit-and-think piece.

I like it when You gives us a few minutes of your thoughts and feelings about a song you've just listened to. It is very unique among reactionists. Most of them just do some ordinary blah blah like please subscribe, hit the bell button, bye, see you next time. Keep it up!

Fun Fact: The phrase "Childhood of misery is lifelong injury" was also used by Tatiana in Retrospection. : ) What you were saying about the complex studio vocal layering not being able to be replicated live: that's why Vlad has a laptop right next to him. He has some vocal harmonies (as well as some extra guitar tracks) that are launched at the start of a song and due to the click track that's playing at the same time and his ability to be a human metronome, everything fall perfectly into place at the right time. This song is a good example of the use of backing tracks to help them sound as similar as possible to the studio version.

I used to try to explain the laptops and the in-ear monitors to people also. Good job there. betting you are a musician. This is the one Jinjer song I can not listen to. but glad I stopped in to read the comments.

@@williamcody3415 - Thanks man, I appreciate it. : ) About the song, I believe I wouldn't feel the way I do about it if it wasn't for the lyrics' video. I'm perfectly fine listening to the audio only or watching the live video but reading the lyrics at the same time... that hits hard.

This one took me a little while to warm up to, but I really enjoy it now because of how different it is. They just recently uploaded a playthough vid of Vlad for the song Under the Dome. It's not exactly a full live performance, but would still make for a cool double feature.

Sean could do a double feature with the bootleg live video from Bulgaria, the sound is not perfect but it's ok enough. : )

Cool and interesting song, awesome live performance, it sounds even better. Good breakdown of the technical aspects of it too. Man, when are you gonna do a double feature of the amazing "Retrospection"???

How does she sing against those crazy time signatures? How does this sound better than the studio version? It's F$#&%ing Jinjer, that's how.

Well programed metronomes fed into their in-ear monitors. I would love to be able to listen to their songs with their monitor feeds. I suspect (especially on this song) that the "Click" varies somewhat from 2 - all of them. Sean, Polyrhythm (s) is probably what you are looking for in your post video breakdown. If you choose to dig into that part of theory I might suggest you take it in small doses. It will likely give you "the brain pain"... I have been playing drums for about 30 years, and trying to figure out this level of technical acuity does it for me. For me, the insane technical aspect of this song on so many levels is something that I suspect will intrigue me for many years to come. Freaking amazing... of course it is... it's Jinjer ...

This one takes several listens to latch onto, no question about that. Now it's in my top 3 Jinjer songs. :) The lyrics are a big part of that, at least for me.

Yeah, this is one of the few songs that is not actually written by Tatiana, but Eugene. I personally wish they would've focused more on the cool melody that's in the beginning and the middle. Want to hear some low quality pre Jinjer Tatiana? "КоDrЫ Tatiana Shmaylyuk before Jinjer in her band The Kodry - Dub Vader", and also "Super rare video of Tatiana Shmayluk with former band Prophecy (before Jinjer)". :)
