Great reactions. You are right about Pisces being a lighter song - one of their 3 lightest. There is some studio massaging of the sound, per the description in the video - but Tatiana can do everything she shows here and more. I recommend Who Is Gonna Be The One in concert as a reality check kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2fVp2innp1gbtU. Tatiana started singing in metal bands at 15, and started learning grows at 18 - she was inspired by Otep. She practiced growls for 4 years before including the technique in her performances, with the band she sang with for about a year before she joined Jinjer. She joined Jinjer in 2010 after the former vocalist left. He was a skilled singer and growler but it is basically impossible to become a professional musician in Ukraine because the arts are little valued, and hard for a band from Ukraine to break into international popularity. Even now their North American tour is all tiny venues and cheap tickets. The band seems to have attracted the best of the best of Ukrainian metal musicians, and the band has had a string of amazing drummers as well as incredibly skilled guitar players and their bass player and manager is phenomenal. They are from eastern Ukraine and the war forced them to leave their homes to continue their careers. Since then they have been one of the hardest working bands in metal, fighting to earn enough success to give that sacrifice meaning - 130 shows last year, scheduled for 150 this year. Ukraine went from being an authoritarian communist dystopia to being an authoritarian capitalist dystopia when the Soviet Union collapsed, with widespread poverty and rampant pollution. Because of this, protest against pollution, greed, and authoritarianism is baked into Jinjer's identity, and 2/3 of their songs have environmental or political themes.
