Traditional English pronunciation of Latin is weird -- see American legal jargon for examples. But the words are usually pronounced as if you are trying to say French words as if they were English. Latin pronunciation of Pisces would be Piss-kays. In Italian it would be something like Pishes. In French, Piss-ees. Where the long "i" in the English pronunciation has come from is a mystery.

Jinjer is an experience. They have captivated me like no other band ever has in my 20+ years of enjoying metal music. You are in for a treat. "Teacher, Teacher" is my favorite. Your best live performances will be "Who is gonna be the one" and "Perennial". They are a great talent and even greater people. Enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole that is Jinjer.

Talent, plus years of work to make the most of that talent. She was inspired to sing metal hearing Otep when she was 15, started singing cleans in various local bands to build her foundation, then at 18 started practicing growls with Dig by Mudvayne before moving on the Laid to Rest by LoG. After 4 years of practice she started using growls in performances with the band she sang with about a year before joining Jinjer and she says she still was terrible (though if she's like most women I know, that probably means she was good enough that if she'd been a guy she'd have bought herself a beer, patted herself on the back, and rested on her laurels but only perfection was good enough for her haha) but she says performing with growls helped her polish her technique. Then she joined Jinjer and has been performing with them for over a decade, constantly getting better both at her cleans and growling skills. This isn't showing off her lowest growls either. Perennial at Wacken is a great well-rounded performance on stage. Who Is Gonna Be The One shows a 2017 snapshot of what she could do with her full range of growls and some interesting cleans that I'll leave for you to discover. The most savage growls on anything they've released are Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev - the song is about her mental health struggles and that was recorded last winter. BTW, probably not something to react to, but if you are curious there are bootlegs of them covering Laid To Rest when they were just starting out. Best sound it on the one that was uploaded in 2012 by NosSam and has a title all in Russian except for the name Jinjer. Cheers!

The growling will eventually fuck her vocals. It’s a very unnatural sound for a woman’s voice and she will probably end up with polyps. Apart from that, it’s fucking annoying.
@Duality333
@Duality333 4 жыл бұрын
SvenTviking she’s not using her vocal cords though so, no she won’t be fucking up her vocals. Like have you ever screamed before? Right after if you tried to sing and hit the high notes she did, you’d prolly scratch out and not get anywhere close. Plus you’d be in pain doing it...do you see her struggling when she goes from her growls to singing? It’s because she is using her throat and mouth to make the sound, not her vocals. She’s better than you give her credit for.

I saw them live back in 2018 at a metal festival here in Norway and a friend of mine who worked backstage came out into the crowd because he heard Tatianna and thought "That dude has a really good growl! I gotta see this." He came up next to me and asked me where the growling vocalist was. XD You could say he was taken a bit aback when he realized who was growling. She's such an incredible vocalist and performer.

Fantastic reaction! A) Watching people react to this song/video is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. Watching people's jaw drop when Tati does her vocal changeover is always fun and awesome. B) I *ESPECIALLY* love it when those listening are metalheads. Sure, watching vocal coaches or pop singers, or people who're not into metal react is fun, but true metalheads really KNOW just how hard what she does is. And the fact that she does it *absolutely flawlessly* is just incredible. I saw your jaw drop when she did it in the last section of the song...GROWL GROWL *angelic singing* GROWL GROWL, all within the space of a couple bars. You *KNOW* how hard that is, and you appreciate it at a totally different level than a lot of other reactors. C) You deserve far more subs than you have. You're reaction was great, and your presence on video is really polished. You have at least one more new sub in me, and I'll be sharing this video and your channel with my friends. Finally, D) I echo all of those who are suggesting Teacher Teacher next. Tati is one of those rare performers who's just as awesome live as she is in studio. And Teacher Teacher really shows off her ability to switch between styles at the drop of a hat. From there, just enjoy going down the Jinjer rabbit hole. You wont be disappointed, I promise.
@CarlosWadeMusic
@CarlosWadeMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Man this is probably the nicest comment I have ever received. Thank you! And I totally agree about the “non metal heads” reacting to things. It’s a whole different story when the reactor truly knows what’s going on. Anyways, teacher teacher is coming up soon. Thanks again for the kind words and sub!

LMFAO! I scan for Jinjer Pisces first timer reactions about every day. There is nothing better than the reaction of Jinjer virgins to that transition. It's priceless! Almost always a WTF look. And something about demon possession. lol I saw a band @ 12 years ago... a metal core band with a female lead singer that put most of the guys in that venue to shame. So I wasn't completely shocked the first time I heard Jinjer. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised that she has that versatility. That is some rare talent. But the shock value is worth the price of admission.

ironically these sessions were not to show off her vocal talents, they were meant to showcase the drummer's talents since at this point he had just recently joined the band. Just something I read in comments somewhere in other reactions to this song. I love reactions to this song and obviously other Jinjer songs but this spawns my favorite reactions lol.

I know its mainly about the vocal surprise but man that band is solid! The drummer is on fire, bass sitting like a boss and the guitars sparkle like light on water then.... 🤘

Other than watching people react to Pisces my favorite part about these videos is looking down into the comments to see literally every other Jinjer fan that's here for the same reason and to promote them even more. It's such a cool thing to see

The lead singer, Tatania, uses a register known as “Vocal Fry” mixed with the “Growl” register. The result is a low, harsh growl that can create that frightening, loud, screaming sound. Most women have issues reached the vocal fry register and using it like Tatania is able to, which is why most metal singers are male.

Hey Carlos!! Glad to see another Dallas native on here!! Tatiana is a vocal beast! You should check out more Jinjer, especially "Teacher, Teacher!". You should check out another really cool band called Spiritbox (Victoria, BC). Courtney, the lead singer, as range like Tatiana. Check out "Rule of Nines", "The Mara Effect Part 1", "Electric Cross", and "Belcarra"....I think you will like them too. Good luck on your channel and hopefully our Cowboys will get to play some football this year sometime...peace, bro!@

It's Pisces, the zodiac sign of the two fish. It symbolizes duality, which is perfect for this tune as it swings back and forth between a soft ballad and hard metal and back. Likewise the singer switches from angel to demon and back. The lyrics reflect duality, too. The sign is on her earring, also.

Jinjer is awesome. From a purely selfish standpoint, do more reactions of them... You'll get loads of view as people (myself included) can't get enough of watching others react to them. This is one of their more tame pieces. Teacher Teacher really showcases a multitude of her singing styles, as well as highlights her transitions from growl to head voice. Sit, Stay, Roll Over is just a barrage. So many good tracks. And while Tatiana takes front and center, the rest of the band is super technically proficient, and very adept as transitions and time changes.

See you at the bottom of the Jinjer hole! Master musicians and really nice people too. They worked had to get here. Great backstory. I was supposed to see them in Vegas later this month, but, of course, the tour was postponed. Maybe you can catch them when they reschedule. They weren't able to start any of their 2020 US tour, so I'm sure they'll be playing somewhere near you. Oh, I see that they were scheduled to play the House of Blues in Dallas, so they will reschedule in your town.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but her growling sounds like it is double tracked. I'm also not saying there is anything wrong with a double tracked vocal. Double tracking vocals does help punch through a heavy mix.
