A prominent bass part is a common thread in Jinjer songs. Always interesting. Their song Wallflower starts out as the bass and guitar playing alternate roles and then switches back half way through. Their drummer Vlad started out as a classical piano player, went to guitar and then to drums which makes him a pretty capable composer. Since he joined the band it's really transformed their sound. The purpose of this video was to showcase him as their new drummer. The original version of this song from the King of Everything album was with a different drummer (Dmitri Kim who is also very good). Vlad always plays open handed and his kit is fairly unusual. If you think about it piano players rarely cross their hands to play so I think the technique is a natural for him. There is a drum playthrough of their song Mediator on KZbin which is an excellent showcase of his skills.

What I love about Jinjer is that they have their own distinct sound. They may have been influenced by other bands, but like a lot of great bands, they don't get lost in the crowd. You can always pick out a Jinjer song when you hear it.

If you are a drummer you might want to check out the drum cam of Mediator that they posted on their channel. They posted many more but this one in particular is mesmerizing. Also it is funny, usually this is Spiritbox which people compare to Tesseract, while Jinjer is sometimes compared to Lamb of God or Meshuggah. But Pisces is a very distinct song in their repertoire, most of their other songs sound quite different.

I really enjoyed this particular sound, but I was checking out some more songs while I was driving yesterday and they were all pretty damn good. I'll definitely check that Drum Cam out, I love a good drum session. Thanks for watching!

Vlad, the drummer, is right handed, but plays open jazz style. Tati can hit 4 octaves in harsh vocals. This is nowhere near as deep or as high as she can go. This is studio sound, so it's not really live at all. It's just a taste of Vlad on the drums, which is what it was intended for. They have a new single out, someone's daughter. It's brutal. Loved the reaction!

Lol Jinjer is ukrainian proggy djent groove metal with complex time-signature maze, polyrhythms and multi-genre blending. They are one of the most talented 4-pieces ever.
