Can’t wait until you get into some of their older stuff like I Speak Astronomy and Outlander. Still unmistakably Jinjer, but with a more straightforward and driving sound. That’s what I like about Jinjer, they aren’t afraid to mix up their sound between albums.

This song and Retrospection are still my favorite songs off Macro. Great reaction, Sir!

Retrospection is amazing. Another one with a great feel.

Have to agree. The entire album is great, but PoC and Retrospection are my favorites as well. To be fair imho, Noah was to me the lowest off of Macro and it's still a very good track.

Because I know you love the bass, I recommend that you react to "Who is going to be the One" (Live, Napalm records). This performance showcases Eugene's talent on the bass as well as Roman's skill on the guitar. It also shows the energy of the band and why Tatiana is one of the best frontwomen in the business.

This is a very very good live recording and I think this live version of this song is better then the one they have on their studio album.

Amen! Same goes for 'On the Top' from the same concert. They were in great form at home in Kiev.

Nice!! I find it amazing that you still didn't ended up doing "Who is Gonna Be The One"(oficial live) and/or "Teacher Teacher"(studio). 😄 Hope it happens, including others from them!

Great reaction! This is my favorite Jinjer song for sure, but then they don't have a bad one! The best thing about this song is how It slows down in the middle yet gets heavier. Fantastic song!

Thanks for doing this one. Interesting side note. The images projected on the wall are taken from the official video, which is worth looking at on its own merit. Some of Tatiana's screams on this song make chills go up and down my spine every time.

To me, from a timing perspective, this song is all about juxtaposing smooth and sharp transitions and overlaps between 6/8 and 4/4. Listen again a few times... that point where the outer hi-hat started ticking on triplets was actually, in my mind, a foreshadowing of the shift to 6/8. There are points where the guitar and bass play the same pattern over and over, but with the time signature morphing underneath them they go thorugh several different feels and accent patterns, which is a common thing in proggier metal. It's kind of like a key modulation only temporal instead. They'd use a 6/8 groove and then keep the instruments the same while the drums shifted to 4/4, either resolving or creating a sort of temporal dissonance to build or resolve tension and 'wrongness' as the song spoke about pitfalls in the mind. When you start to hear it enough times to notice just how the _lyrics_ play into those transitions in and out and through wrongness and comfortable grooves as well, not just in her timing and notes, but the words themselves, that's when you'll start to really appreciate just how much of a different level Jinjer is on. This song has some of my favorite lyrics in their entire discography, or indeed of any music I've ever heard. "In my head... (4/4 but with dissonant hints of 6/8)" "Someone else... (Still 4/4, but the bass and guitar are off-pattern now, feeling wrong...)" "Setting snares... (Starting to gather more 6/8 feel, the patterns lining up more, now, but still off-feeling)" "For my soul..." (And bang, full into mid-tempo 6/8, but now with hints of the half-time 4/4 threading through it). Pure fucking genius.

Hey fellow bassman, check out Eugene's bass playthrough of Vortext. The playing is brilliat, and it's a great closeup of his technique.

I'm not really surprised you like Jinjer, Eugene gets a lot of lead instrument time on bass. Roman on guitar often plays a subtle but sophisticated harmony with Tatiana filling out the song. Part if the reason for Vlad's unusual choices on drums, is he learned drums 2nd, started as a pianist. Holy crap, I didn't expect a 9! I'm completely biased, but I completely agree. Great reaction! (Biased yes, but they've only gotten better. Tatiana gets mad at the guys for making crazier music that she has to write lyrics for)
