Not only is Vlad classically trained as a pianist, he is also a very capable guitarist and composer. Live does not mean raw audio, that's a bit of a misconception. Most live footage you see on youtube is further mixed to rebalance audio levels of the various input types and sections for better clarity and quality, unless it's some bootleg recording (which then again, is far from "faithful" "live" audio too). This live session is basically a re-recording of a slightly older song, specifically made to show off their (at the time) new drummer. The video description has some more information about this mix: "I believe we had this idea to record a new version of “Pisces” when we first rehearsed the song with Vlad Ulasevich as a new drummer. His drumming makes the song sound really different. So we finally had some free time last winter, we went to Istok studio in Kiev, did a live recording and shooting, then added over some extra lines, like a few backing vocals and guitars, then Max from Morton Studio made this new magnificent version of mixing and here we are - Pisces video. I hope you will enjoy it!" I'll leave my usual Jinjer recommendations, in case you want to check out more. It's far from being their best song. :) Official video suggestions: Teacher, Teacher Vortex I Speak Astronomy Cloud Factory Retrospection Wallflower No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video) Home Back Mediator Sit Stay Roll Over Live suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Who Is Gonna Be The One live On The Top live in Kiev Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement & Punishment (one take vocal performance) Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest
@justdave96103 жыл бұрын
Not sure but I think it's really a live recording with some obvious Post production because the video purpose was to showcase the new drummer Vlad and how his style made the song sound different from the original recording. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about any of that.
@Mu77ley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's definitely a live studio performance with a little post production. A couple of sections of the vocals are definitely doubled just like they do in album versions. I have the stem tracks for On the Top, and on that there are 2 tracks for the main extreme vocals (with a couple more used for emphasis in a few places) and 9 tracks for the cleans (for those glorious harmonies).

Subbed on your Deutschland reaction, great analysis and a lot of fun seing you run into that curveball haha. Theres a lot of editing on this and the growls were doubled too. Now you gotta see them in one of their epic concert performance videos to see them really live. Perennial live at Wacken is the usual next choice whichis similar in hardnessto Pisces though every song is different. Another direction would be Who Is Gonna Be The One which is on the harder side with more focus on all the things Tatiana can do with her growls, but also amazing instrumental work from the guys - especially dueling guitar and bass. Major respect for pointing out the whole band. They are a team and every one is a master of their craft - Roman on guitar, Eugene on bass, and Vlad on drums. For me, Tatiana's growls are awesome. Her cleans are by turns lovely, heart-rendingly beautiful, and utterly captivating. But the contrast is intoxicating. She goes pretty high with power in other songs, and that's a very bittersweet line, so I take it as effect. Fun reaction. You had me laughing on the bus haha. Cheers!

Actually she's as good at clean vocals as growling. And yes she's quite melodic growling. The band is incredible, fusing jazz, blues, funk, and reggae type sound with extremely heavy metal. Also a treat for you, they often have the bass as lead instrument, with guitar supporting the melodic line. Oh and David? This was a few years ago. They're much, much better now. Amazing score, amazing reaction. Nick should bushwack you more often!

🔥Welcome to Jinjer, David! I just found your channel, great reaction, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band. TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, first three videos are out for Vortex, Mediator and Wallflower. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official and/or live in Melbourne), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: Enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

I’m one minute in and I already am sure this is gonna blow your socks off. Edit: yep, called it. As for the recording, it is my understanding that this is not the original album version of the song, they re-recorded it when their current drummer, Vlad, became a part of the band. His drumming absolutely elevated this song (and the entire band) to the next level. They are all insanely talented though! I believe that they are all self taught except for the drummer!

He likes it, doesn't like it, whatever, but he doesn't listen to it before and then make stupid faces as if he hadn't. He doesn't exploit the fact that people have become so isolated and lonely with the info age that they've been getting validation and feelings of sharing that they used to get from going to concerts and movies together what have you, from perfect strangers' videos and the comments of users, for quite some time now. Not bending over backwards for YT money, like a charlatan, but building your own base slowly yet steadily. Thank you.

Haven't posted in a while but been lurking. Big fan of Jinjer so had to pop in to be the millionth person to suggest if you want to see if Jinjer can replicate what they do in the studio in a controlled setting live, I recommend the "Perennial" performance at Wacken Open Air 2019, which is the closing song in their set. You'll also probably get quite a number of requests for "Who Is Gonna Be The One" live at Atlas Weekend Festival in Ukraine from 2017, which is the song they open up with in this particular setlist, but I'd really highly recommend "Perennial" as the next tune to checkout. And if you eventually work through your backlog, "I Speak Astronomy" live at Hellfest from Home 2021, which is one of my favorite songs by Jinjer along with "Teacher, Teacher." A lot of reactors have done the official video of "I Speak Astronomy" but don't think I've seen anybody do one to a live performance of that track. Anyways. Great reaction and breakdown as usual DH. As you dive down the Jinjer rabbit hole, I think you'll enjoy the journey. Vlad is a bad arse on drums. Eugene's bass work is impressive as well, and Roman's tone on his guitar is sick along with just crazy tasteful playing. Tatiana's vocals and stage presence go without saying. \m/ \m/

Jinjer is what got me into heavy metal music! They're a fucking beast of a band and are very different from other bands in their genre. You should definitely react to their song "Homeback" next! It is one of their best songs ever imo and a very personal song to the entire band as they are from the war torn part of Donetsk, Ukraine back when the fighting got really bad with Russia and they had to flee their homes and the song Homeback talks about their experience. Thanks for the great react and musical notes on this song!

I've been looking forward to you reacting to Jinjer and now that you have, I must say that I am not disappointed in the least. You gave a very fair score that I am actually surprised at. I thought that you might find it to be gimmicky and cut the score to 7.8 or lower. Bravo to you sir for gathering yourself and listening objectively. I have to score your reaction now... 9.5... "yep, I'm happy with that score"

It was a video to highlight their at the time new drummer and introduced him to their fans so it makes sense that he stood out. There's currently nobody better in the business than Jinjer✌️
