Jinjer is from the Ukraine and every member is an exceptional musician. They are Roman on guitar, Vlad on drums, Eugene on bass and Tatiana on vocals. Over the last decade they have been one of the hardest working bands. Constantly touring and recording. It just started really paying off just before the lock down. They are recording a new album and just announced new tour dates.

Check out the lyrics. One of the many reasons Jinjer stands out as a unique band. Incredible passion and intelligence in their songwriting. This is a song about renewal.. however you want to interpret it - be it the seasons, birth/entropy/death, or renewal of the spirit.

They are amazing on stage. Since being forced to leave their homes, families, and friends behind due to the war in eastern Ukraine that would have prevented them from continuing to tour in 2014, they have thrown themselves into nearly constant touring, until the lockdown. Home Back is about their hometown getting caught in the war. There is a ceasefire now so "it isn't being bombed anymore" according to Tati, and they are able to visit. But as the song says, home isn't just a place but is freedom and security and nobody can have that in a war zone. It speaks powerfully to not only their experiences but the millions of civilians caught in every war around the world. They did 152 shows in 2019, most of them headlining and over an hour, aside from some festivals. They have a few Canadian shows in their tour this coming fall. If any of them are close to you, it is well worth it. I just bought tickets to see them for my third time in their Seattle show. People will keep bugging you to do Pisces even though you've seen it, so you might as well. ;) Note that there was quite a bit of editing in that, and that although Tati can switch from normal cleans to growls and back on a dime, she seems to need a couple of seconds to switch to belting, so she growls the belted line in concert. I love the video and especially that version of the song, but I find their concert performances so impressive, so those are what I most like seeing folks react to. The one-take vocal performance of Judgement & Punishment is great too. Subbed. Cheers!

Great reaction video! In my humble opinion as a rock and metal music lover for 5 decades, Jinjer may be the most talented metal core band in the history of the genre. Yes there are other talented bands out there like Twelve Foot Ninja (by which I came to know of Tatiana who contributed vocally and visually in their track and wildly entertaining video 'Over and Out') who can boast the same penchant for melodic to metal transition in their composition, playing, and vocals. And although Kin (lead singer of TFN) has an equally flexible and adaptive voice, Tatiana's ability to meld raw power and soft vulnerability as a female vocalist sets her and Jinjer apart from and above virtually every other artist of nearly every genre. Perfection!!!

As I'm sure you can see by now, Jinjer is the BAND, Tatiana is the singer. She is definitely the "star" of the band, and her incredible vocal abilities are indeed difficult NOT to notice, but let's not forget that 100% of the amazing music she's singing over was written by the three very talented gentlemen onstage with her. It's the combination of that great, beautifully orchestrated music and her otherworldly vocals that makes the total package of Jinjer the unstoppable engine of pure awesome that they've become. Nothing wrong with celebrating Tati's greatness, just don't forget to throw the guys who wrote the actual music a bone while you're at it. Also, if you're fry screaming and you're coughing or gagging, you're doing it incorrectly, most likely attempting to do it too hard or "loud". When someone who really knows what they're doing, like Tati, the actual volume of their vocals doesn't increase, and more often than not it actually decreases below their normal singing/belting levels. Notice she gets even closer to the mic for the growling parts, she's letting the microphone do the work of making it SOUND like she's screaming her lungs out, when in reality, she's NOT doing that at all. Proper technique is CRUCIAL if you're trying to learn this vocal style, and I would highly recommend seeking out a vocal coach who specializes in this style to learn from, because you can seriously and permanently damage your vocal chords if you do it incorrectly. Anyhoo, enjoyed the overall reaction, just please remember to try and at least MENTION the guys who write and perform the music next time, they count, too! ;)

As I understand, if you have good technique, vocal chords can be completely relaxed when using false vocal chords. Ie. not used at all, air just moves past them. Given her instant switches this sounds correct. But instant switching of course still requires tons of stamina and skill because you are completely changing what parts are active. And have to maintain good breath while at it.

First time to your channel & it was a pleasure. Jinjer is one of the few metal bands I love & was able to see them live in October of 2019. You mentioned that you love " rocker chicks " , how about reacting to five, all in the same band. The band is, BAND-MAID!! Five young women from Japan who play the best "hard rock" myself and many others have heard in almost 30yrs ( the views & new subscribers will prove that point ). Like Jinjer, they are at their best live, so for a first listen I would suggest a live performance of one of the videos off their official You Tube channel. Some of my favorites would be, Domination, Play, Secret My Lips, & Real Existence. If you prefer a music video first, then Dice, Rinne, Blooming, Warning, Manners, or Real Existence are all good to start with. Thank you, I'll be looking forward to subscribing.

You probably won't see this comment since I'm so late with it, but if you read this: Do note how, on top of the fact that it's the end of the set and she's audibly tired, that she's a very energetic physical performer and that performing at large open-air venues is hard anyway, she's having near constant problems with her in-ear headphone set and despite all that, she doesn't miss a beat at any point during this song. Tatiana is such a great vocal performer in so many ways! And that doesn't even say anything about the absolute dependability of the instrumentalists that surround her. Jinjer is one of my fav bands because of it.

Jinjer is a very talented band. Not the type of music I chose to listen to but will listen to it when others around me want to hear it. Schnell, I will continue my request for you to react to Angelina singing, "I'm Still Holding Out for You" since it is one of her very best vocal performances. It should have been a BIG hit but Angelina never officially released it. Someone leaked it and we are so glad that person did so. Try to guess how old she was for that performance. Always a fun game.

The reason she can switch from screaming to singing so fluidly is because she uses safe distortion methods, such as false chord and fry screaming. Also, I've never heard of someone's voice being fried after doing any of these methods. Idk what you were thinking here, were you talking about vocal damage. Because although making these harsh sounds is difficult, with the right technique and a whole load of work it's a pretty easy sound to make. And that's how it should be, easy.

Great reaction. Heavy metal has so many amazing clean singers. It's fun watching people be so surprised metal screamers can actually sing. I think there's definitely a misconception. Metal singers have some of the best voices in the business ... Corey Taylor comes to mind. Give metal a chance, Us metal heads will help guide you along the way. You'd probably be surprised.

Great reaction. As has been mentioned. The whole band is awesome: Tatiana (vocals), Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums). The three guys are excellent musicians and create an awesome platform for Tatiana's vocals; It's a great combination. I love Pisces, so sure, I'd definitely would like to see your take on it, even though you've seen it awhile ago. Tatiana has mentioned that she doesn't really know how she does the growling/screams as it's her own technique. She tried following video tutorials and that didn't work well for her. So she just developed her own way to do the extreme vocals without it hurting her clean vocals. She describes it as having two throats; one for clean vocals and one for extreme vocals. Here's the interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3PVooqPgqegbJI I'd say do Judgement (& Punishment) - Tatiana Shmayluk - One Take Vocal Performance. A great video that show cases her vocals and gives a close up view to see her sing. Then I Speak Astronomy and Teacher, Teacher. For reference: Here's a list of best quality videos I can find on KZbin (all official videos from Napalm Records or Jinjer Metal Band themselves or official release from a festival) from Cloud Factory LP to Macro LP (in order of older to newer): If I included a link to the music video and the live performance, it's because both are great videos for different reasons. Maybe a double feature would be cool to see how the song changes between live and the studio version/music video and see what the band's artistic vision was for the song? I did not include lyric videos or the audio only videos. 3:32 - “you’re vocals get fried when you switch to that crazy rock voice.” If it hurts or vocals are getting fried, you’re doing it all wrong. It should be effortless.

Generally speaking, in metal... "soft" or normal singing is referred to as cleans...or clean vocals. The "rock" vocals are called growling. Or harsh.

The concept of a band seems to be lost in mainstream music genres. In Rock and Metal it is mostly bands and not individual artists. Many bands are formed by a group of friends through the interest of music, but sometimes even friends that have grown up together and learned to play together. The band often becomes a second family and the band members become your brothers and sisters. There are of course more professionnel band constellations often with more seasoned musicians coming together to explore new venues. A band is a collective where the musicians write and produce their music together. Every member of the band is an important part of that process and a change in lineup can have a huge impact on the dynamics and musical expression of a band. In the case of Jinjer Tatiana does steal the attention making her a perfect front woman. Tatiana does write most of the lyrics and decides how to best express the emotion of those lyrics. However it is the boys, Vlad on drums, Eugene on bass and Roman on guitar that writes the music. All four members of Jinjer are on their own incredible musicians but they are one of those rare examples where the sum is greater than the parts. 4x1=10 Eugene has said in an interview that they first found the core of Jinjers musical style when Vlad joined a few years ago. Thus showing how important one person can be for the collective. I can’t imagine Jinjer without any of them, even though you could replace one of them with a skilled session musician it would just not be the same.
