The key to grooving on this type of music is to focus on the drummer, particularly the cymbals. The drummer is often riding one of the cymbals, keeping steady time that you can count to.

Tatiana is a beast. Have you two been introduced to Leo Moracchioli yet? His KZbin channel is Frog Leap Studios, he takes songs from all genres and periods and gives them his own metal flare in a cover. You were definitely in the right ballpark with the whole mental thing. It's about one's thoughts being so heavy and negative that it becomes engulfing that you spiral down so far that you can't get out of that state (Vortex) and it will eventually consume you.
@paranoidrodent2 жыл бұрын
In an interview, Tatiana described the band's creative method as the guys (Roman, Vlad and Eugene) jam together developing the general musical outline of each song without her input while she holes herself up and writes poetry (sometimes originally in Russian, which she then translates to English). Once they guys feel the songs have progressed enough musically, she joins them and hauls out her collections of poetry and starts adapting it poems that feel right into lyrics that work with the music (essentially, the whole band fuses music that was originally an instrumental piece and poetry into final songs with vocals). Another band which I have heard described as having a similar process was The Smiths. Morrissey would produce handwritten volumes of lyrics (poetry basically) and join the band late in their creative process, transforming his written work into suitable lyrics.

Lex, I am a 50 yr old Rock/Metal etc... , musician that has worked and played the scene for 30+ years. Lyrics are the last thing I EVER hear.. For me, what is being said will only matter if it fits musically with what the music is making me feel. You are not alone. The feeling is what makes it. Tati's voice (and all other voices) is an instrument. The entire band is ridiculously talented at using their instruments The flipside of Jinjers Coin is Spiritbox IMO. You want feels with this style... Spiritbox.... Great Job you two.

A little tip for a fellow Brad. Often in this type of music the drummer will use a cymbal to give you a beat you may be able to nod to. Sometimes this beat will carry through transitions to line up on the other side if this makes sense.

“Vortex” is a song about overthinking, diving deep into your thoughts and how hard it is to dive out again, to escape your own thoughts. Like A Lunatic, Frantic The Man In The Room Looks So Dramatic With A Left Shoe On His Right Foot This Spiral Traffic Feels Too Traumatic, Too Traumatic Quiet The Man Is Wandering Around Where's The Way Out He Never Found? And Inside There's A Ball Made Of Lead It’s Rolling And Rumbling On Parquet Oh How Heavy Is The Ball! It Bends His Spine To The Very Ground Neither His Nor Another Enormous, Ludicrous Oh How Heavy Is His Thought! In A Half An Hour Or So It Crushed The Floor And Smashed The Man's Toes Oh How Heavy Is His Thought! In A Half An Hour Or So It Crushed The Floor And Smashed The Man's Soul (Whirl) Through The Black Hole In The Floor (Spin) I Begin My Whirl (Swirl) I'm A Driftwood With No Strength (Spin) Without Soul, With No Will Like A Feather I Travel Down (A Spiral Staircase) One More Loop Through Abyss (Where Stairs Are Erased) Like A Feather I Travel Down (A Spiral Staircase) Falling Deeper Than It Is (All Stairs Are Erased) Through Rapids And Stones I Came Like Water And Like Wind I Go Through Rapids And Stones I Came Like Water And Like Wind I Go Spin! Brad and Lex I would like to share with you that growling and screaming in metal is taught. There are vocal teachers that can teach you. I would also like you to know that the growl comes from the stomach. There are regular vocals that someone like Katy Perry would have then there are vocal cords called “Fauls cords and Vocal frie”. Most gutteral growling is fauls cords..btw I saw some comment saying this was Deathcore. This is not Deathcore. Deathcore is it’s own sub genre of Deathmetal
