Hi, check out the drum playthrough of their song "Mediator" which also shows his fantastic footwork.

Hell yeah! You just found the best band on Earth with the most talented musicians I've heard in a LONG time. Jinjer as a whole is absolutely amazing they are all masters of their craft! Their drummer (Vlad) is a classically trained pianist and taught himself how to play drums when his old band needed a new drummer. He is a ghost notes master as you'll find out the more videos you do of them. I would definitely recommend you watching all of their videos, but since you're a drummer, maybe do Vlad's drum playthrough of their song "under the dome" and his playthrough of "Mediator" first. Just subscribed and turned on my notifications for your channel. Can't wait to see you do more Jinjer!!

Vlad is a top-tier *beast* of a musician! LOL He's a classically trained pianist to trade, & only switched from (self-taught) guitar to (self-taught) drums in his old band because he thought that'd be a better way to get out his ideas for more interesting drumming than having to convey his thoughts to another new drummer when the old one left! o_O #AnnoyinglyTalented Please treat yourself to his (savage) drum playthrough vid of the single "Mediator" ;)

Welcome to Jinjer! The rabbit hole you just fell in is endless, as this band has no bad songs! Meanwhile, Vlad - yes, here's the scoop; he plays "open hand" meaning he plays instruments on the right with his right hand, those on the left with left hand, and rarely crosses over. (I think he's actually right-handed) He is able to blast with both hands (one-handed single stroke 8th or 16ths, or even triplets), he currently has 2 snare drums; main in center, pop-corn (like a picalo) on right. Both are heavily padded (objects on head) which contributes to the dry sound. Lately he is also playing with a second floor tom to his left. He often plays with another hi-hat extended way out in front of the left side of kit that he only plays with his foot; no sticking. He plays rudiment style continuous stroking on the 8ths (which accounts for the "ghost" notes), and a large portion of his grooves are poly-rythmic meaning his snare beats are scarcely on 2 and 4, but rather compliment the entire rythmic under-pinnings. He's a classically trained pianist which also contributes heavily to his drum part compositions as well as the way he plays, and he's a descent guitar player and bass player. He wrote a large percentage of the album Wallflowers, minus lyrics (Tati's department). Vlad had his work seriously cut out for him when he took the reigns from Dmitry Kim, the preceding drummer who wrote the drum parts for and played on the KOE (King of Everything) album; also a monster player - super tight. Peace!

Hey Joe, thanks for the feedback - I currently have the highest speed internet I can get in my area and run the same software as others (obs) so I’m not sure why that might be happening - I’ll do my best to look into it but not sure what could be done to improve it - any ideas I’m up for listening. Be well 😃

"So you're having beer with your friends the other dayyy..." I had a feeling you'd like Jinjer and Vlad's drumming. They are all top tier musicians. Tati gets the lion's share of attention as the frontwoman, and because she's a truly remarkable singer, self taught and probably gifted by the specifics of the anatomical makeup of her own vocal apparatus. Also pretty, which never hurts. The guys are all incredible too, with lots of playthroughs on their KZbin page. You should definitely check out some of Vlad's drum playthroughs when you can. I'd love to hear your analysis.

Haha, that's put me in a great mood Patrick! I now have a lot to investigate with regards to Jinjer. Amazing to hear yet more wonderful musicians are self taught. People have suggested a few more tracks and so they have made it into this ever growing rotation of wonderful, new bands that I'm falling in love with and grateful to you and the others for educating me. Be well :) Pitter Patter

13” Tama Bubinga (sp?) snare tuned way up. A side snare, a 14” shallow floor tom (that looks like a snare drum), a 16” floor Tom, and I think he’s added another floor tom or gong drum.

Thanks for that Jason, glad to know the specs and now the sound makes sense as they're bubinga - what an absolutely gorgeous and delicious sounding wood. Be well.
